The A Bug's Life soundtrack was composed by Randy Newman.
As the filmmakers started to develop the story, they described some of the characters to Randy Newman. Newman then composed themes for Flik, Atta, the circus, the Grasshoppers and the ant colony. Later, when he composed the score, he used the themes that he had already composed.
The first track of the album is a song called "The Time of Your Life", which was written and performed by Newman, while the rest contains the score to the film. The CD is out of print, however, the album was reissued as a digital download and for streaming.
