Trivia

WALL-E have the most nominations with 6; however, it only won Best Animated Feature.

Until now, there's only 4 Pixar animation films that received two or more awards on Oscar, which are The Incredibles, Up, Toy Story 3, and Coco.

Out of all the sequels, only Toy Story 3 and 4 received the Oscar accolades.

There are two prequels and sequels that didn't receive a nomination in the Academy, which include the Monsters University and Finding Dory. However, Cars 2 received a decent nomination in the Golden Globes.

The Good Dinosaur is the only original film that didn't get any Oscar recognition in Pixar. However, it received a Golden Globe nomination.

Cars was the only franchise that didn't get any awards on Oscar. For other franchises, Toy Story got 4 awards, The Monsters series received one award, a Best Original Song, Finding Nemo series got a Best Animated Feature and The Incredibles series received two awards.

Pixar is the most successful animation studio in the Academy's Best Animated Feature category, winning 11 awards for the category alone, with the films Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Up, Toy Story 3, Brave, Inside Out, Coco, Toy Story 4, and Soul. Their first feature-length animation film, Toy Story, received a Special Award. Altogether, Pixar received 16 awards on Oscar just for their feature-length animation films. Although consistently successful, five nominated movies failed to win the Best Animation Feature category: Monsters Inc (lost to Shrek by Dreamworks Animation), Cars (lost to Happy Feet), Incredibles 2 (lost to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse by Sony Pictures Animation), Onward (lost to fellow Pixar film Soul), and Luca (lost to Encanto by Walt Disney Animation Studios); however, Monsters Inc. won the award for Best Original Song.

Two films, Up and Toy Story 3, received a Best Picture nomination, which is a rare occurrence. The very first animated film to receive a nomination for Best Picture was Beauty and the Beast, which unsurprisingly came from Disney, the same company who owns Pixar.

Their short films are also recognizable in the Academy industry, with Tin Toy, Geri's Game, For the Birds, Piper and Bao winning the Best Animated Short Film category. However, if we include nominations, there are 16 short films.

Tin Toy was the very first Pixar animation and the first animated short film that ever received an Oscar award. Toy Story was the first feature-length animation film that was recognized by the Academy. Finding Nemo was the first Pixar film to win Best Animated Feature.

Mike's New Car is the only short film adapted from another feature-length film that received an Oscar nomination.

Recently, the Academy Awards released their shortlists for certain categories, and Soul was a popular contender. Several Oscar predictions predicted that both Pixar's recent films, Onward and Soul, will be nominated at the Best Animated Feature category. If that happens, it will be the first time that two Pixar films were nominated at the category at the same time. Other predictions also suggest that Soul will be the third time in Pixar history and the fourth time in Oscar history to receive a nomination for Best Picture.
