Andy's Mom (also known as "Mrs. Davis") is a supporting character in the Toy Story series. She is the single mother of Andy and Molly Davis.
Toy Story[]
In Toy Story, Mrs. Davis makes her first appearance. She gives Andy a Buzz Lightyear toy for his birthday, which causes jealousy in Woody. However, near the film's climax, Woody and Buzz became close friends. During Andy's birthday party, she injures one of the Army Men when she briefly interrupts their plans and accidentally steps on him coming out of the kitchen, damaging him in the process and hurting her foot as well. Annoyed, she becomes frustrated with Andy for leaving his toys in the middle of the floor and sweeps them aside with her foot remarking that she thought she had asked Andy to pick them up before proceeding to the living room, unaware that he did not.
At the end of the film, it is Christmas time, and Mrs. Davis gives Andy a puppy as a Christmas present, which makes Woody and Buzz feel uncomfortable.
Toy Story 2[]
In Toy Story 2, she discovers that Andy had torn Woody's arm and she puts Woody on a shelf, warning her son that toys cannot last forever. She later holds a yard sale and comes upstairs to Andy's room to find things to sell; the toys hear her and quickly return to their positions. She almost had Wheezy sold, until he is saved in time by Woody, with the help from Andy's dachshund dog Buster (who is now grown up), but Woody gets left behind. When Al McWhiggin finds Woody and gets ecstatic, she comes over to see what's the matter and takes Woody back, refusing all offers of money for him since she knows how much he means to Andy. Unfortunately, Al kicks a skateboard into one of her displays and then steals Woody while she is distracted. Ultimately, Woody, with the help of Andy's other toys and his new friends Jessie and Bullseye, manages to escape from Al and head home. The next day, she finds the Andy has fixed Woody and is later seen outside watching Molly walk for the first time.
Toy Story 3[]
In Toy Story 3, Mrs. Davis is shown to be friends with Mrs. Anderson, the receptionist at Sunnyside Daycare. She has visibly aged by this point, approaching her mid-years, and remains a committed and loving mother to her children. She accidentally takes the bag containing Andy's toys which was to be put in the attic and places it out on the curb, mistaking it for a trash bag. Her last appearance in the film is when she gets emotional upon seeing Andy's childhood bedroom emptied and hugs her son, wishing that she could always be with him. He assures her that a part of him always will exist with her.
Personality[]
Mrs. Davis is a very loving and devoted parent who establishes fair rules for her children. However, like any parent, she often argues with Andy and Molly, usually over little things.
Trivia[]
- Although presented as a loving mother to Andy and Molly, Ms. Davis is actually, without meaning to be, a major threat to the toys, as she frequently asks Andy to throw out the toys he no longer wants. Ms. Davis' actions regarding the toys sets the plot in motion in the first 3 films.
- In the first film, she purchases a Buzz Lightyear toy for Andy on his birthday, prompting the rivalry between Buzz and Woody which leads to them being lost and forced to find their way home.
- In the second film, Ms. Davis tries to sell Wheezy at her yard sale, prompting Woody's rescue attempt where he is subsequently stolen by Al, though she still tried to stop him from stealing Woody by telling him that he was not for sale.
- In the third film, she orders Andy to clean out his room before going to college and puts the bag of toys that Andy was putting in the attic out on the curb as trash by mistake, causing them to be donated to Sunnyside Daycare. She is shown to be visibly shocked and guilty when Andy confronts her about it, though he does forgive her.
- In Toy Story 2 and 3, Ms. Davis' hair has changed from long and brown to short and blonde (suggesting that she dyed it blonde and had it cut short).
- Pixar modeler Ian Steplowski remodeled and rigged her and Andy for Toy Story 3.
- She is apparently ambidextrous, as she is shown writing with both hands in the third film.
- She appeared in Toy Story 3: The Video Game (PSP version) outside Andy's room.
- In The Art of Toy Story book, it is revealed that Mrs. Davis' original name in the recording script of the original film is listed as "Jennifer".
- Mrs. Davis' physical appearance changes drastically in every film (with the exception of Toy Story 4).
- It is unknown what had happened to Andy and Molly's (presumably Mrs. Davis' husband).
- She wears many different outfits during the movies:
- In the first film of the saga at Andy's 6th birthday party, she has brown hair tied in a high ponytail and wears a pink T-shirt, aqua pants with roses printed all over her leggings, and navy ballet flats. On her trip to Pizza Planet for dinner with Andy and baby Molly, she wears a white T-shirt, green vest with sunflower heads all over, and the same amount of pants and flats. At bedtime, while she kisses Andy goodnight, she wears a cream shirt with tulips printed all over, blue skin-tight pants, and the same color amount of flats. On her moving day with the Eggman Movers, she wears a light aqua shirt with flowers printed all over while she drives with Molly and a worried Andy to their new house in her minivan. At Christmastime, she wears both a lavender shirt and pants and the same color amount of flats.
- In the second film of the saga, on her camping trip with 8-year-old Andy and 3-year-old Molly, she has short brown hair and wears a lime T-shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers. In the end, on her other trip to summer camp with her children when Andy spots Woody and the toys, including Jessie, Bullseye, and the Little Green Men, she wears a teal T-shirt, gray dress pants, and same color amount of sneakers.
- In the third film of the saga, while she is about to donate Andy's toys to Sunnyside Daycare, she now has short hair dyed in golden blonde and wears a blue shirt, white unbuttoned overshirt, blue jeans, and brown ballet flats. In the end, on Andy's departure to college when she bursts into tears and hugs her son goodbye, she wears a teal V-neck T-shirt and a white shirt from the inside that almost shows her breast cleavage, blue jeans, and same color amount of flats.
