Chase Racelott is a secondary character in Cars 3. He is voiced by and based on Chase Elliott. A racer of the younger generation, he is sponsored by Vitoline and bears the racing number 24 (Elliott's own rookie season racing number).[1]

Official Bios[]

"Racelott's blend of skills, track smarts and top-of-the-line technology make this rookie a real contender."[2]

Second-generation Piston Cup racer Chase Racelott knows what it takes to win and was racing long before he ever set tire on a professional speedway. Like his fellow rookies, Chase knows how to push toward the front by combining his skills, track smarts, and top-of-the-line technology.[3]

Cars 3[]

In the film, he replaces Brick Yardley, the previous Vitoline racer who got fired, right before the race at Los Angeles International Speedway. Later he was interviewed by RSN before the Florida 500 race.

Near the end of the film he congratulates (alongside Daniel Swervez, Ryan "Inside" Laney and Bubba Wheelhouse Jr.) to Cruz Ramírez when she defeated her rival Jackson Storm.

Personality[]

Chase is really kind and also takes racing seriously. This is shown when he congratulates Cruz Ramirez for winning the race and he gives her a tire-bump. He can be arrogant and selfish sometimes, as shown when he told the press that he will not lose his sleep wondering where Lightning McQueen is. Despite this, Chase is a good-hearted, intelligent, well-meaning, and friendly race car.

Trivia[]

  • In the Cars Die-Cast "NASCAR" line, Racelott's number was turned to the number 9. A good reason for this is the fact another Die-Cast car, named "William Byrev" (Based upon William Byron, Elliot's teammate) has the number 24, and the fact in 2018, Hendrick Motorsports (Elliot and Byron's team) did some number changes. In this case, Byron took the number 24, and Elliot took the #9 (A Number his dad, Bill Elliot made famous).
  • His name is a pun on his voice actor, Chase Elliott, who is an actual NASCAR driver. He, like his fictional counterpart, replaced a previous driver. In real life, Chase replaced Jeff Gordon (a veteran driver and Jeff Gorvette's voice actor) after he retired in the 2014-15 season. It also translates "Race a lot" which of course, Chase Elliot always races a lot, having done the Snowball Derby, Chili Bowl Nationals, and Rolex 24 during the 2020 Cup Series Off-Season, which was the same season that Elliot won his first ever Cup Title
  • Chase Racelott is seen at the Los Angeles International Speedway before Brick Yardley gets fired.
  • When Darrell Cartrip is speaking: "McQueen is fading, fading fast!" Chase and Danny overtake him, but when McQueen hits the wall and crashes, Eric Braker is seen in place of Chase.
  • Due to inaccuracy on his artwork, it is believed that Chase has blue eyes, but in the movie, he has hazel eyes and on his diecast, he has green eyes.
  • In the NASCAR diecast line, Chase changes his number from 24 to 9.
