HAN-S is a massagebot aboard the Axiom. A rejected HAN-S unit numbered "09" suffers from a disfunction that causes his body to go insane. Thus, it is difficult for him to control his arms when they thrash about. It is possible that HAN-S 09 also suffers from repressed anger. Following the destruction of the Stewards (after which he tiredly stands over their broken corpses like a champion boxer, and defeats a staggering one), he seems to have better control of his arms. The meaning of the acronym "HAN-S" is unknown, but it is meant to sound like "hands" or "Hans".
