Why is AUTO not considered an antagonist. The article even says that he is the main antagonist of the movie Statue-of-liberty 04:01, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

There was some deliberation over this, as you can see on the page Category Talk: Antagonists. We agreed that he was evil, but since he was programmed that way he didn't know it was wrong. Crazyhead88 05:20, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that's it. AUTO's actions are evil, but he doesn't make evil deliberately, he is just following a directive that, according to his program, he MUST follow. Gray Catbird 13:29, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

Again, I don't think he should be considered a villain at all. - RaptorWiki (Ryan) - Pixar Wikia/Terra Nova Wikia/Grimm Wikia Administrator 15:06, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

A villain and an antagonist are not the same thing. An antagonist is usually called a villain, however, not all antagonists are evil. A villain is a character who does evil things and an antagonist is a character who opposes the protagonists but some characters who are antagonists are not necessraily evil. Anyway Statue of liberty, AUTO is an antagonist because he opposes the protagonists of WALL-E. Loveable Cats (talk) 05:24, March 22, 2018 (UTC)

Name[]

I was surprised to realize this page spells the robot's name "AUTO", in capitals. I have always thought his name is spelled "Auto", because it is not an abbreviation, like the names of the other robots, but the contraction of "autopilot". That it comes from autopilot is I believe commonly accepted; even this page itself said it, a long time ago. However, I realize now it could be a contraction of autopilot, and still be captitalized, I guess...

Trying to verify this, I checked disney.com and pixar.com, and both spell it "Auto", even though Disney.com isn't reliable (it calls Squishy Scott "Squishy" Scribbles)...

Anybody has a thought on this ? Gray Catbird (talk) 02:15, March 16, 2014 (UTC)

Unless we can find that AUTO is an acronym for something, maybe it should be "Auto"....never really thought about it before. - RaptorWiki (Ryan) 14:50, March 16, 2014 (UTC)
