Tom Hanks (born July 9, 1956) is an American actor and filmmaker who performed the voice of Woody in the Toy Story franchise.
In an interview for Toy Story, Hanks said that when they asked him to do Woody, they used a scene from Turner & Hooch, which was Woody telling a dog not to eat the car in order to show him what good story and performance animation could do because he had never done animation work before and he stated that if the animated scene didn't make sense he probably wouldn't have done the film.
