Archives

I have (finally) created archive pages for all the content that had been on this page. I have broken up the content by year. You can find the archives at:

Baz and Bernie's voice actors

According to Voicechasers, it says Lee Unkrich plays Baz (red crab, unamed).

And according to the Visual Commentary (seen on Finding Nemo 2-Disc Collecter's Edition Disc 1), it shows Rove McManus playing Bernie (green crab, unamed).

Dillonjames06 (talk) 02:37, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the note! I would say the Visual Commentary is an official source and don't have a problem if you add Rove to the page. You should reference the Visual Commentary. If you're unsure how to create a reference, let me know and I can do it, or give it your best try and I can fix it if necessary.
As for Voicechasers, do you know where that sites gets its information? I've never heard of it. If it's something like IMDb, we would not consider it official. For most voice actor credits, I will refer to the official press kits for the final word. But I've also used tweets from voice actors saying they are doing a part, or have even received emails from actors saying they performed a role. Thanks. --Jeff (talk) 03:21, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

Toy Story edits

To Dvcnut,

I wanted to edit the main movie pages just like the backs of Pixar movies, but I ended up causing an accident with the Toy Story page. Can you please help me? I can't fix this by myself.

Thanks, Cameronhhs

Hi, thanks for letting me know, and thanks for helping make our wiki better! I have reverted your edits. You can always use the "Undo" command to undo your edits. I'd strongly suggest to use the "Preview" button to make sure your changes look correct before publishing. Also, if you're unfamiliar with a template or how we do things on the wiki, look at other similar pages to get a feel. Remember, we try to make things consistent on the wiki, which is a lot of work since Pixar now has over 20 films. I would suggest before making a large number of edits, try one or two and see how other people react to them or if they get reverted. Let me know if you have any other questions! --Jeff (talk) 18:25, January 14, 2020 (UTC)

Onward prep!

Hey Dvcnut! Have you got any further plans for Pixar Wiki up until the release of Onward soon? I'm happy to help execute ideas and offer some of my own! I was wondering if changing the skin to a purely Onward themed one might be a good idea so close to release. Let me know what you think! :) --Spongebob456 talk 19:00, January 23, 2020 (UTC)

I didn't have anything really planned but I liked what we did for Toy Story 4 last summer, with a new background and adding links to the film and characters in the top menu. If you're offering to creating a background image for Onward that would be fabulous! Thanks so much! --Jeff (talk) 01:45, January 24, 2020 (UTC)
I already took the liberty of starting on a new background - what do you think? Don't worry too much about the wordmark on there right now, I was just playing around. The current wiki wordmark would work fine but I'm happy to have another crack at another one if you'd like me to! --Spongebob456 talk 17:14, January 24, 2020 (UTC)
Yep, I like it! - RaptorWiki (Ryan) 17:32, January 24, 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I like it too! So as RaptorWiki mentioned, maybe we put this out in early February? --Jeff (talk) 19:22, January 24, 2020 (UTC)
Glad you like it! Yep, early February sounds good. :) --Spongebob456 talk 20:50, January 25, 2020 (UTC)

Indent reset Hey guys, so we have the background sorted so I thought we'd look at other areas to have the wiki ready for Onward!
We have the Discord server handy - have you thought about adding a Discord Widget to this wiki to enable other users to join? I know before you were concerned about moderation, but that is something we might be able to work out. Just thinking that we can create another live space for users to talk Onward when it releases. :) --Spongebob456 talk 20:44, January 27, 2020 (UTC)

I haven't thought about it, except when you bring it up, LOL. I haven't had anyone ask me why we don't have a discord link/widget, but of course that doesn't mean there aren't folks out there who would enjoy it and make use of it. I'll let you know, if we do add it, I will not use it any more than I currently am, which is basically none, so if it will just take care of itself once launched, then I don't have an issue with adding the widget. --Jeff (talk) 21:07, January 27, 2020 (UTC)
But I still don't understand why we need it? We have the discussion page which seems to be doing well, and I don't see many other wikis using it. Why introduce another forum for discussions? Isn't it better to keep the discussions on the discuss page? --Jeff (talk) 21:11, January 27, 2020 (UTC)
Hey! You don't need the widget, it was more a suggestion to enable users to talk in the live chat environment. I know a lot of users really like talking about the wiki on Discord is all. No need for it if you don't want it. Just something a lot of wikis have.
I was just going over what else we can do on the wiki in the lead up to Onward that can make things easy for the community and give it something fresh. The 'if it isn't broken, don't fix it' approach applies too so we shouldn't go too far of course! :) --Spongebob456 talk 19:27, January 28, 2020 (UTC)
I don't think there is a need for it either. I don't use it really at all, and I wouldn't start to. Maybe I'm just too old, lol. Maybe the younger people are using it? - RaptorWiki (Ryan) 20:27, January 28, 2020 (UTC)
I think it suits some people more than others. There are still a lot of people who prefer communicating on the wiki rather than Discord, it's totally fine. It was just a suggestion is all as above, to see if there were any ideas to explore for this wiki. :) --Spongebob456 talk 21:22, January 28, 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! It's good to explore new ideas, otherwise I'd still be lamenting over Apple dropping support for AIM. For now we won't introduce it, and can explore it if we start getting interest from some of our more active editors. --Jeff (talk) 22:04, January 28, 2020 (UTC)
For sure! Also, Trailer Track are speculating we may see a new Onward TV spot tonight during the big game. No guarantees, but it may be worth keeping an eye out during that period. :) --Spongebob456 talk 14:52, February 2, 2020 (UTC)

I give up. I've been trying to upload your Onward background image to replace the File:Wiki-background image. But when I upload it, it wants to rename the file to Wiki-background.jpeg. I've done this before but have forgotten the proper incantation to do it. So if someone would be kind enough to remind me, that would be appreciated. --Jeff (talk) 02:02, February 7, 2020 (UTC)

Looking at your background image, I like it a lot, and it makes sense to have the brothers on either side. We usually can't see the middle section, except for perhaps the discussion page. So would it be possible to put Guinevere the van between the brothers? Not sure how difficult that would be? --Jeff (talk) 02:05, February 7, 2020 (UTC)
Wow, I'm dumb. That was easy, I just had to upload it from the theme designer page, rather than trying to directly upload it to the file. So, new image is up, yay! And I like it as-is, but if you think it might be easy to add Guinever, that'd be cool too. --Jeff (talk) 02:27, February 7, 2020 (UTC)
Hey! So sorry for the late reply! I think I must have got the email to say your talk page was edited but I accidentally deleted it. Apologies!
I can have a go at adding the van but you're right in saying you wouldn't see it due to the content area covering it up. Also, the main page split would put a line down the middle of the van which may not look great. Well done for uploading it!
With the Discord server, me, you, and Raptor now have admin rights in the server. It would be great for us to add some more channels, getting it ready for Onward.
I asked a while ago about adding a Discord Module to the wiki. Is that something you'd be willing to look at again? It would be a great way for users to communicate if the live chat environment. It could be added to the main page and/or right rail. As an alternative, perhaps I could post a link to it in Discussions in case users want to join? Discord is very popular with Fandom users right now and I think it would give a nice boost to the wiki. I would be happy to moderate it and we can of course look into possibilities of other moderation support too.
Let me know what you think - can't wait for the movie! --Spongebob456 talk 17:19, February 13, 2020 (UTC)
The last time we talked about Discord, both RaptorWiki and I were against adding it to the main page or right rail. Neither of us are users of Discord so aren't interested in doing anything with it. If you want to post a link in the discussions, that's fine. --Jeff (talk) 18:28, February 13, 2020 (UTC)
All good! Super glad you guys like the background. Not long until the movie releases now! :) --Spongebob456 talk 20:00, February 13, 2020 (UTC)
Speaking of preparation, Fandom have posted a Discussions post asking for questions to ask to Dan Scanlon and Kori Rae! Feel free to post your questions, and also perhaps Announce the post! :) --Spongebob456 talk 19:45, February 24, 2020 (UTC)
Excellent, announcement created! --Jeff (talk) 19:57, February 24, 2020 (UTC)

TS’s original cast?

I know that it must feel awkward to have somebody approach you with this oddly specific question, but I’m new and don’t know where to look.

Do you happen to know who the voice actors were for this deleted scene? (I thought that this page would have an idea, but it doesn’t look like it.) If you don’t, then where should I look? —(((Rottweiler))) (Woof? Ruff!) 16:45, February 7, 2020 (UTC)

No, not awkward at all, glad you asked, although I can't answer your question. The Toy Story Credits page wouldn't have this information because that information is from the official press kit, which is for the theatrically released film. The deleted scene would've been done with just scratch voices, i.e. usually Pixar employees. Since Pixar goes through so many iterations of their films during development (usually 4 iterations per year, and a film can take 3 - 5 years), I doubt there is any official record of who did the voices. You might find some info on the behind-the-scene featurettes on the home releases. You could also ask over at the Pixar Post forums; some of the members there may be able to recognize the voices. Thanks! --Jeff (talk) 17:44, February 7, 2020 (UTC)

Another edit showing how to eliminate antagonist fussing

In December I made a change to the opening paragraph on Holley Shiftwell's page to move it away from terms that lead to edit wars and antagonist/protagonist fussing. Since then, I've been working to reduce situations like this and realized something I had noticed before but didn't see that it was contradictory.

What I saw was the words people are using to label a character with a specific level of importance in the story are using the same words for both antagonists and protagonists. For Holly, it was "tetartagonist". On some wikis, that means a "fourth-level bad guy" and on others it's a "fourth-level good guy". Sometimes on the same wiki, they'll be used in both senses.

Then you throw in what I mentioned on Talk:Holley Shiftwell about how sometimes "tetartagonist" sometimes would mean "four equally-important characters" and sometimes it would mean a "fourth-most important character", and it gets even more confusing and contradictory, especially as modifiers like tertiary are added. I have more information over on Wickedpedia in the Help:Antagonist-Protagonist levels page.

I've kind of made it my mission to put an end to antagonist/protagonist fussing wherever possible. And part of that is changing how characters are described to no longer have them being labeled as an antagonist or protagonist as the first thing people see in the character's page.

I just made an edit like this to Randall Boggs' page. You can see it here. The next edit was a minor one so I could note I used the wrong account.

It doesn't label Randall. It doesn't try to rigidly define what level of character he is, or even give a general level for him. It shifts the focus to be closer to who he is as a person. And more importantly, it removes a source for edit wars.

You may want to consider this for other characters on this wiki. I created a blog two weeks ago on how I'm going to overhaul Wickedpedia. Point number 8 also covers speculation abuse, twisting characters to make them evil or more evil than they actually are, and cases where wrong categories are deliberately added.

If you have further questions, let me know. —RRabbit42 (leave a message) 17:06, February 15, 2020 (UTC)

Thank you. I read your overhaul post on the wickedpedia site and like it a lot. Being tired of dealing with antagonist fussing, I was getting ready to institute a no-antagonist policy, just as you have instituted. I think we should implement a strict, immediate block policy on antagonist fussing and adding categories for new editors. I've been pretty busy lately with taxes, but I will try to update our wiki policies accordingly. What do you think of our primary villain category? I think I'm fine getting rid of it too since it leads to a number of issues. I will start a new conversation on the primary villain talk page, please chime in either here on my talk page or there once I add the new topic. And if time allows and you're so inclined, feel free to start making similar edits removing the antagonist terminology from other character pages. Thanks! --Jeff (talk) 00:38, February 16, 2020 (UTC)
Well, all I have to say is this....if it is something that is up for interpretation, it shouldn't be stated as fact in the article, or given a category as such. - RaptorWiki (Ryan) 18:11, February 19, 2020 (UTC)
Maybe I'm going a bit too far the other direction then. I created a couple sandbox articles for my ideas of new policies: Pixar Wiki:Sandbox/Antagonist-Protagonist policy and Pixar Wiki:Sandbox/Category policy. I could be flexible keeping the protagonist and primary villain categories, but really like getting rid of using antagonist labels, and like the simpler labels of major, secondary and minor. Let me know what you think! --Jeff (talk) 18:51, February 19, 2020 (UTC)
I think it's the "primary", "secondary", "tertiary", etc., labels that are the problem. So unless Pixar says someone is the "main" or "primary" villain, we probably shouldn't label them as such, since the "primary" part of that description is up for interpretation otherwise. Calling obvious antagonistic characters what they are is probably fine. I don't think we need a category for it though right now. E.g., both Waternoose and Randall Boggs are absolutely antagonistic characters in the Monsters, Inc. story, but we don't really know who the writers meant to be the "primary villain", or both of them. So we shouldn't be stating them both as such. If we don't know, leave it out. - RaptorWiki (Ryan) 20:42, February 19, 2020 (UTC)

Onward prep (part 2!)

Hey! I wanted to start a new thread as the other one was getting quite long.

Next week's the big day! So the reviews of Onward have been really good! Hearing it's very emotional and funny. Can't wait to see it!

Is there any help I can offer? Any other ideas you've had? I'm also hearing there are quite a few references to other movies in Onward so the trivia section will be a hotspot. :) --Spongebob456 talk 18:54, March 1, 2020 (UTC)

I've been avoiding the reviews, but have heard they are mostly positive, that's awesome! I had tickets for the advanced screening yesterday but went out of town so had to cancel them. And we're gone next weekend so not sure when I'll get to see it. :( Nothing else planned for the release, will just have to keep an eye on the pages to make sure no details are added until after the wide release on Friday. Thanks! --Jeff (talk) 19:53, March 1, 2020 (UTC)
No worries! Sorry you can't see the movie yet, hopefully you'll get to soon. I'll keep an eye out too. Here's hoping for a successful period for the movie and the wiki! --Spongebob456 talk 19:31, March 2, 2020 (UTC)

Discussions Moderator

Hi Dvcnut,

I was curious if you we're looking for any Discussions Moderators currently. If so, I am interested. Discussions moderators can moderate all social aspects of the site including Comments, Discussions, and Chat.

I see comments aren't enabled on this wiki (except for user blogs), but Discussions (which is pretty active), and Chat (Which mostly inactive now).

The only social aspect I cannot moderate is blogs themselves, just the comments on the blogs. I know you and RaptorWiki have mentioned you are both busy, and If I get the position I hope to be able to take some of this off of you your plate. Also, I use Discord so members have several ways to contact me and I already maintain a couple other Discord Servers.

Cheers, TotallyLogical📮📝 16:21, March 12, 2020 (UTC)!

Also, I noticed in the Navigation, Onward > Voice Actors, Chris Pratt is listed twice. TotallyLogical📮📝 17:11, March 12, 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the comments and your offer to help moderate discussions. I'll admit, I have hardly spent any time looking at discussions. Have you seen many posts/comments that should be flagged or removed? --Jeff (talk) 18:35, March 12, 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I haven't seen too many post that required attention. There was one I do remember that was a rude/harassment type post but if I recall it was cleared out and the user was banned. Then User:TotallyAFuccker under a different username (There was about 5 or ten usernames across 15 different wikis) harassed me on Discussions and I reported that user and they we're globally banned and their post cleaned-up. Those are the only two I recall of the top of my head. Cheers, TotallyLogical📮📝 22:33, March 12, 2020 (UTC)
OK, I'm glad there hasn't been too many issues with discussions! Let me think about this and get back to you.
Also, I was curious about you thoughts on a Discord server for the wiki. You, me, and Raptorwiki would have have full administrator rights over the server. In addition I noticed you're above conversation with Spongebob456 and you stated you would not be able to be active. So I can handle everything related to the server including moderation, appointing mods, and everything else related to the server. Also, I can give you a detailed explanation to add the Discord widget to the sidebar or I can see if Spongebob456 can do so. Let me know your thoughts, TotallyLogical📮📝 01:31, March 13, 2020 (UTC)
Well, you've probably read the comments above regarding my thoughts on discord. To summarize, I'm not seeing much demand for it, except from you and Spongebob456. With Discussions, I don't really see the benefit of having another forum for discussions. So, you're already using Discord, are you on the existing Pixar wiki discord server, or do you have to be invited? This is part of my issue with it, I don't know enough about it and don't have a good understanding of how it works, and don't have the time or interest in learning. But it's something I can think about too.
Thanks so much for your contributions to the wiki! I appreciate you helping clean up after vandals, and your offers of assistance! --Jeff (talk) 01:50, March 13, 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I didn't know there was already a Discord server for this wiki, but just browsing the Wiki Activity I see at-least a few users who I know are on Discord besides myself, you and Raptorwiki. Discord servers are by-invitation so here is my Discord handle: ThatLogicalGuy#8013. Discord provides more of user-to-user chat where as Discussions will get a lot of responses but not very many replies to those responses. Did that make sense? I completely understand not wanting to learn, I've been there many times myself, and I'm not going to lie Discord has a bit of a unique feeling at first. I've been on Discord for over a year and don't have knowledge of more advanced features/settings. But I can do basic moderation and functions on the site, so I can make Discord as less of a time-heavy task as possible for you. We could enable Discord on a trial and observe how it used and make a decisions based on that. Also, are there any active administrators or moderators in the server beside you and I presume Raptorwiki? As a moderator I will mainly work on Discussions, and Discord will come second to that based I only log onto Discord minutes per day, to a half hour per day unless I am having an ongoing Discussions or meeting, I'm on Fandom a good bit more.
You're Welcome! I'm glad I can be of assistance! Hope this Helps, TotallyLogical📮📝 13:38, March 13, 2020 (UTC)

Professor Zundapp

Why is he considered the secondary antagonist last time I checked he drove the plot and had more screen time than Axlerod so he's more of the central antagonist, central means the one who drove the plot and has the most screen-time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by OHabrawi1 (talkcontribs) 09:06, March 13, 2020‎ (UTC).

OHabrawi1, since you're already looking at what Zundapp has done, isn't that more important than trying to figure out exactly how much of an antagonist he is? If you were being introduced by a friend to another person and they described you as a tertiary human or secondary adult (or teenager/pre-teen, whichever it happens to be) or a quaternary student-turned-septuary member of the work force, would that be useful? And what if another of your friends contradicted the first and said no, you're the quadragonal human or the tertiary adult/teenager or a primary kid-turned-tertiary adult, is that more important than who you are as a person, what you've done with your life and how you treat other people?
Don't get hung up on trying to pin a rigidly-defined label on characters. No one can agree on what specific label it should be and so they fuss and fight and come up with convoluted descriptions like the above. I'm a human, a male and an adult, but those are labels. Who I am as a person is more important. Who a character is as a person needs to be more important than a label. —RRabbit42 (leave a message) 14:24, March 13, 2020 (UTC)

three things about Omnidroids (I swear I saw it in the movie).
1st - on Gazerbeam a sound was heard but nothing appeared on it which means it was Gazerbeam who destroyed the fourth Omnidroid, in addition it was also seen that he and Stormicide were destroyed by the fifth Omnidroid and that Omnidroid was destroyed by Gamma Jack.
2nd - in addition to five known Super, two sounds can be heard that confirm the Super's death (or the destruction of the Omnidroid) which means that there are two more Super that the fourth Omnidroid destroyed (the fourth Omnidroid destroyed a total of seven Supers).
3rd - after Gamma Jack was destroyed, it was still heard in the film one more sound which means that the sixth Omnidroid fought another Super, no one knows who won whether it was the Omnidroid or the unnamed Super.

central doesn't mean main it means the one who drove the plot and has the most screen-time for example Darth Vader is the central antagonist of the original trilogy while Emperor Palpatine is the actual main antagonist so since Zundapp drove the plot and had more screen time than Axlerod he is the central antagonist while Grem and Acer are the secondary while Axlerod is the main

Potentials block recommended

If you look at the history of the Monsters (miscellaneous) page, you will see four accounts with "Daniel" in them have made edits changing the names of the characters. The only account not active on that page is Danieltheman1, but it has already been blocked due to 22 instances of renaming characters.

The presence of yet another new account showing up to rename characters when the previous account had not been blocked here demonstrates that they're not going to stop renaming pages. On the Pixar Cars Wiki, this person renamed character pages 173 times, not counting edits to the pages where they changed the name.

I have now set blocks on all five accounts on Pixar Cars and I recommend you do the same here. The accounts are:     Daniel.lamb.391     Daniel.lamb.913     Danieltheman2     Danieltheman3     Danieltheman1 (as noted, this one is already blocked)

All previous attempts to communicate with this person were unsuccessful. —RRabbit42 (leave a message) 17:56, April 20, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, I believe I've blocked all these accounts. I also removed the names from the Flint's students section of Monsters_(miscellaneous). Thanks! --Jeff (talk) 18:14, April 20, 2020 (UTC)

Suspect A Bug's Life videos

User:SignOut6446 has uploaded three YouTube A Bug's Life videos; File:A Bug's Life - Animated Film (10 22), File:A Bug's Life - Animated Film (13 22), and File:A Bug's Life - Animated Film (14 22). I have watched the second of these about halfway through, and it looks as though the original uploader to YouTube has split the movie into 22 parts, in violation of Pixar's copyright. I think these videos should be deleted. — evilquoll (talk) 04:55, May 1, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for flagging these, they have been removed. --Jeff (talk) 13:09, May 1, 2020 (UTC)
I have now found the YouTube channel from which those clips came (which of course I am not going to name or to link to); as I suspected, the uploader split the movie into YouTube-maximum-sized chunks, and uploaded them, giving them a unifying playlist. I couldn't find any way to report the channel to YouTube, so I notified Pixar and hopefully they'll get this channel shut down. -- evilquoll (talk) 18:48, July 11, 2020 (UTC)
Good, glad you found it and reported it to Pixar. How doesn't YouTube just automatically do this? I've upload videos with copyright music and YouTube takes it down immediately or strips out the music. Oh well. --Jeff (talk) 19:27, July 11, 2020 (UTC)

Problematic user

The very name of User:Max Damage ~ Pixar Wiki Edition proclaims this to be a vandalism-only account, and indeed, this user's only act so far has been to upload a grossly inappropriate (even down to the name) image, S*** png.png. Clearly something needs to be done. -- evilquoll (talk) 09:35, May 2, 2020 (UTC)

The file has been removed and user blocked. Thanks! --Jeff (talk) 12:00, May 2, 2020 (UTC)

Pure_Good category

what's the problem, this wiki also has these categories.

The problem is that labels like this leads to edit wars, and does not add anything substantial to the wiki. It is an opinion, not factual information, and this wiki only deals with factual Pixar information. The Dreamworks wiki is obviously not the same, which is fine. Each wiki decides on its own policies. But on this wiki, we are very strict about categories and antagonist fussing. If you're going to be a contributing editor of this wiki, make sure you read and agree to the policies. Otherwise, you might be more comfortable just working on the Dreamworks wiki and other wikis similar to it. Thank you. --Jeff (talk) 14:16, May 7, 2020 (UTC)
As an admin on the DreamWorks wiki, I would like to point out that those "categories" are only still there because I don't have AWB access and it is thus not feasible for me to remove them. This job is earmarked to be done ASAP; DreamWorks Fandom is a wiki, not a Dungeons and Dragons game. -- evilquoll (talk) 02:01, May 25, 2020 (UTC)

Checking in

Hey there! How are you? Hopefully you are keeping safe. Been looking ahead to Soul and also looking at the Pixar shorts and thinking the studio is in a fantastic place right now. How have things been on the wiki? :) --Spongebob456 talk 13:39, June 5, 2020 (UTC)

Good to hear from you. I'm also looking forward to things slowly re-opening here and being able to go see movies again. The wiki is doing fine, with all that's going on can't say I've been spending much time here. Thanks for checking in, and hope you're well. --Jeff (talk) 23:01, June 5, 2020 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for the late reply! I'm doing well thank you, glad you are. Would you like a more neutral background now given Onward is now out on DVD and Soul won't be out for a few months? Let me know and I can design something. :) --Spongebob456 talk
Um, I think I'm ok with the Onward background, thanks. I'm wondering, as theaters slowly re-open but no new films out, if they'll be showing ones that were out at the time of closing. So maybe Onward will be getting shown. Thanks! --Jeff (talk) 20:47, June 13, 2020 (UTC)
No worries at all! Onward is still on Disney Plus as well and will keep drawing attention here. All good! --Spongebob456 talk 21:19, June 16, 2020 (UTC)

About my edit to the Soul Trivia article.

~~The Thomas Fan 06~~ I get the fact that this is a factual website and that we don't know if Soul will be delayed again. But to share my thoughts with you, I think it'll be delayed until next year if the pandemic isn't over by November, just like how the Bob's Burgers Movie was delayed and moved to April next year. If you're wondering, yes, I am a Bob's Burgers fan.

Hey! I saw the announcement for Luca today, a very nice surprise. I wasn't expecting the film to be released so soon as well, coming next year. The movie sounds fun already from the little we've heard about it, and good to see Pixar sticking with originals still. Great work getting content up so quickly! How is the wiki doing - anything I can do to help? --Spongebob456 talk 18:29, July 30, 2020 (UTC)

Yes, it's always exciting to get new Pixar films! I loved La Luna, directed by the same person directing Luca, so I think we're in for a treat. The wiki is doing well, I don't think there's much we need assistance with at the moment, thanks! --Jeff (talk) 20:12, July 30, 2020 (UTC)
Absolutely! Reckon we are in for a treat for sure. Please let me know if you need help with anything. :) --Spongebob456 talk 20:30, August 1, 2020 (UTC)

Pixar Fest!

Hey! Have you heard Pixar Fest 2020, a month long celebration of Pixar, is starting to tomorrow? It's a virtual event with lots of watch parties and panels scheduled for this month. Here are the details! It would be great to organise an event for the wiki for this. What do you think? --Spongebob456 talk 19:53, August 8, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I have to say, this doesn't seem to be very well advertised, I've hunted around for about the past 30 minutes and haven't found anything except a link on the Pixar UK Facebook page. Is there an official site that has a full list of the monthly events? If so, we could add it to the rotating gallery on the home page. Otherwise, someone could at least put up a link to the Toy Story watch party on the discussion page. --Jeff (talk) 13:59, August 9, 2020 (UTC)
No worries! I must say, I had to hunt around. I found out about it through a TV/Movies news bulletin on TV but can barely find anywhere else for it. Even the Pixar Twitter account hasn't tweeted anything about it. It's really bizarre. According to that Radio Times article above, this is the YouTube channel we need to be looking at. I'm also wondering if it's just a UK thing as Disney UK have tweeted about it. Apologies for any confusion on this - I saw it last night after an advert and wanted to let you know! It does look like just a watch-along at least initially. Not sure if you want to make a big event of it being "Pixar Fest" on the wiki, it might be useful to encourage viewers but it's tricky as the event has been so poorly advertised online! --Spongebob456 talk 15:37, August 9, 2020 (UTC)
Agree, I think it's just a UK thing. Too bad, it sounds like a good charity. I follow Edith Bowman on Twitter and didn't even see anything from her. --Jeff (talk) 15:51, August 9, 2020 (UTC)

American Dog

About 3 days ago, User:Pixar Theorizer posted an article about "American Dog", which turns out to be the working title of Bolt. Clearly, despite his user name, he has fallen into the common "Disney == Pixar" fallacy. The article, and all the pictures therein, need to be deleted. -- evilquoll (talk) 14:40, August 9, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, the images and pages have been removed. --Jeff (talk) 15:51, August 9, 2020 (UTC)

Incredibles 2 fan-made profiles

I noticed that six pages here for the new supers introduced in "Incredibles 2" (Voyd, Screech, He-Lectrix, Krushauer, Brick, Reflux) use fanmade NSA "database profiles" and might need to be removed as I think this wiki only references official material? Below is a source explaining that yes, these are fanmade. Just thought you should know since this was a little confusing to me when I first checked this wiki! https://thinkingaboutscreech.tumblr.com/post/178389230039/since-pixar-wont-do-it-i-made-some-nsa-profiles

Gonnacatchemallcuzhesdannyphantom (talk) 00:53, August 11, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the note! Yes, this site is for official Pixar information only, so if you know the profiles are fan-made, please feel free to remove them. Otherwise, I'll take a look at it later this week. Thanks for your help! --Jeff (talk) 10:27, August 11, 2020 (UTC)

UCP

Hi, sorry for the second message in such a short space of time, but I wanted to check-in about this wiki and the Unified Community Platform (UCP). I think I have brought it up on this wiki before but do you have any specific questions on this?

The UCP is a new platform that uses the latest version of MediaWiki which brings new features to the wiki and some slight design changes. One thing that will change when this wiki is migrated to UCP is wiki chat is being retired. Did you want to remove chat from the wiki ready for UCP and possibly replace it with a module for the Discord server? As chat is retiring soon, it may be good to remove it now ready for UCP. Let me know what you think! :) --Spongebob456 talk 14:12, August 12, 2020 (UTC)

No questions at this time, but I haven't had time to explore too much on what the impacts will be. I see no issue in losing the chat capability, and have removed it from the main page, but I see it on other pages like Pixar Wiki:Current Events, and I'm not sure how to get rid of it, any ideas?
As for discord, no, we still have no interest in that. For the purposes of this wiki I think the discussion page is sufficient. --Jeff (talk) 18:12, August 13, 2020 (UTC)
Oops, never mind, I found how to disable chat in the admin tools, it's been disabled site-wide. --Jeff (talk) 18:14, August 13, 2020 (UTC)
Okay all good! Glad it's sorted. UCP migrations are resuming after being paused a while ago, so this wiki's migration is on track. I can't give a specific migration date yet, beyond that it will be soon. Quite a fluid situation but I believe the wiki is ready for when it does arrive and we will be able to use talk pages still. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to respond but, if not, please leave me a message on my talk page to tell me to wake up! :) --Spongebob456 talk 18:48, September 26, 2020 (UTC)

Back after block

To Dvcnut,

I’m back after a year of being restricted from editing the PIXAR Wikia. I started editing, but I need your approval of my edits. Can you please check out pages Meg and The Bensons and see if they’re suitable?

Thanks, Cameron

P.S. I’m pretty sure that what I said about them is true.

Hello, and welcome back! I looked at your recent edits. Here's what I think - was the character Meg named after Meg LeFauve, or is it just coincidence? If coincidence, then that is not trivia. You need to have some proof that Pixar named the character after Meg LeFauve. The same with The Bensons, did you read somewhere, see it on a behind-the-scenes video, or somewhere that said Pixar used Erik Benson's name to name the character? If not, then it shouldn't be included - we can find many, many, many examples of coincidence of characters, locations, etc and we would not want that to fill up our trivia sections. Let me know if this makes sense.
Also, I looked at and expanded the Matt Aspbury page and cleaned it up quite a bit. I would recommend looking at my edits and learning from them, to see how pages should be created. And please learn more about general wiki editing - you edited my talk page but did not even add a header or a signature. It looks like you're just copying and pasting content in from some other wiki, which is not what we want. If you're going to create new pages, then add some unique and helpful information - give at least a summary sentence. Don't leave the template placeholders on the page. Make sure the films and years are wiki links and that there is a crew category with defaultsort. If you don't know what these things are, look them up or ask. Always use preview to make sure the page looks correct. And if you're not willing to do this kind of extra work, then please don't create the page in the first place. I've just spent about 15 minutes going over your couple of edits - if your edits cause me to have to do clean up on every page you touch, then your work won't be helpful and it will probably lead you to getting blocked again. I hope this makes sense. --Jeff (talk) 13:19, September 4, 2020 (UTC)

Vandals/Harassment

Hello there,

Wow I haven’t been here in a while. This place brings back so many memories... my first wiki that I joined. God, I can’t believe that was almost seven years ago. I wish I was coming back under better circumstances but unfortunately I’m here to report that harassment has carried over to this wiki. If you look at the most recent edit to my talk page you’ll see two users that need blocking. These are the latest in the string of accounts harassing me that I’ve been enduring since May of this year. I’m up to like, 10, support tickets with FANDOM and these are the 40th or 50th accounts that have had to be blocked as a result of this. I can give you the full backstory on that if you want but long story short they didn’t like it when I blocked them for a month, so they made another account, so I extended the ban to something like five years because they were being extremely rude about the whole thing. And then they’ve basically been making accounts nonstop since then and have resorted to death threats. Never thought they’d do it here though. Could you protect my user and talk pages? I haven’t been here in years so there’s really no need to contact me here and I don’t really intend on editing here like I used to.

CAMERAwMUSTACHE (talk) 04:04, September 5, 2020 (UTC)

OK, I've blocked the users and protected your pages. Good luck on your other wikis! --Jeff (talk) 12:33, September 5, 2020 (UTC)

More from Ravensfancam

To Dvcnut,

I need help with creating my new articles for Scott Morse, Ross Haldane Stevenson & Dave Mullins. Can you please be of assistance?

From Cameron

P.S. Sorry if I didn’t use the talk page, I just don’t know how it works

19:34, September 5, 2020 (UTC)

You used my talk page correctly, way to go. You missed 2 things though. You need to include a Subject/headline, and need to leave a signature, which you can do with 4 tildes (~~~~), or click the signature button near the top of the page when in edit mode. The area for subject/headline should be visible in the right column or you can just use 2 equal signs, then the text you want for the subject, then 2 more equal signs. For instance, I added a headline for this conversation like this:==More from Ravensfancam==.
It sounds like you don't have a lot of experience editing wikis, and I actually don't have time to create or clean up pages that you're creating - if I had the time I would be creating my own pages and doing a lot more editing. If you're going to be a contributor on this wiki, you need to learn how to do it. I would not create any more pages and just start with small edits and see how other people change pages. Look at one of the pages you've already edited like Tom Myers. You fixed a typo and added WALL•E, and made the year a wiki link, well done! Now look how Mayan People expanded on the page: removed the useless page template stuff, added a summary line and filmography header, and also added a category with sorting. Use the recent changes page and use the history link to compare how a page has changed. This will help you learn the wiki syntax. You can also search for help pages on editing topics. Until you become more comfortable with how we edit and lay out pages on this wiki, please take it slowly, make simple edits. If those edits get changed or reverted, try to see why and if you don't understand, ask! I hope this helps. --Jeff (talk) 00:50, September 6, 2020 (UTC)

Important Message from Ravensfancam

To Dvcnut,

I added some more true information on the Brave Credits page, but I accidentally caused a problem in the Animation section. Can you please help me fix that?

Thanks, Cameron

Hopefully I fixed the animation issue. Please be very careful editing credit pages, they should come directly from the official press kits. Unfortunately, it looks like either the animation section was never complete or information has been deleted/lost - it is missing the sections for Crowds, Fix and Additional Animators. --Jeff (talk) 14:09, September 7, 2020 (UTC)

Reply back for Dvcnut

To Dvcnut,

I’m actually trying to add those, as well as more of "PIXAR Studio Team", but I may need extra assistance with that. Please write back when you have some time to assist me.

From, Cameron

P.S. I’m talking about PIXAR Senior Teams, Development, DVD & Promo Production, and fixing Business & Legal Affairs.

Please try to make all employee names wiki links, it seems in the information you're adding, some are and some aren't. They should all be wiki links. Thanks. --Jeff (talk) 16:17, September 7, 2020 (UTC)

To Dvcnut,

I added Pixar Senior Team Sections to the Brave credits, but it’s a complete mess. Can you please help me fix it?

From Cameron

I think I've clean it up and added some of the missing information. I broke up the single table and added section heads for Software R&D and Systems. I then created most or all of the missing group titles in that section (Engineering, Technical Leads, etc). Now the names for each of these groups needs to be added which hopefully you can take care of. --Jeff (talk) 03:53, September 20, 2020 (UTC)

Discussions

Hi, my name is Jake. I volunteer with Fandom as a part of their global moderation team. I came across the discussions platform on Pixar Wiki and d like to offer my services to be of assistance. The reports have built up other time and there’s a number of inappropriate conduct.

If this is okay, please let me know and I’ll get started immediately :)

Kind regards,

343TheGuiltyProphetGlobal Discussions Moderator 22:55, September 18, 2020 (UTC)

Yes, please, thanks for the message. Go ahead and remove any inappropriate content and feel free to block any user who has left such content. Perhaps the discussion platform has run its useful life and needs to be deactivated, can't say I'm a fan of it, and unfortunately I don't have the time to monitor it. Thanks! --Jeff (talk) 23:11, September 18, 2020 (UTC)

Soul background

Hey! Hopefully you are keeping safe. Looks like Disney are keeping Soul at November 2020 this year, would you like me to design a Soul themed background for the wiki to get ready? --Spongebob456 talk 12:48, September 24, 2020 (UTC)

Yes, we're safe and doing well, thanks! Yes, if you're interested, a Soul background would be nice, thanks! I wouldn't be surprised if they release it directly to Disney+ similar to what they did with Mulan. --Jeff (talk) 13:59, September 24, 2020 (UTC)
Sorry for the late reply! Glad you're well, I will draw something up soon. I agree with you about the release, you would think they would have to announce something like that relatively soon. I also just realised I never replied to your message from August!! If I ever don't do that again, please leave me a message on my wall telling me to hurry up haha, I didn't ignore it, I think in the emails talk page messages are sometimes missed. Responding now, sorry again! --Spongebob456 talk 18:43, September 26, 2020 (UTC)
Hey! How does this look? Simpler than previous ones but I think looks pretty good. --Spongebob456 talk 15:27, October 5, 2020 (UTC)
Background Soul.jpg
I like it, thanks! I've made it the background I think it looks good. Thanks much! --Jeff (talk) 00:54, October 6, 2020 (UTC)
No worries! Just to let you know, I have just adjusted the middle colour of the wiki background to make it match the background of the image. Now I suppose it's a waiting game to see if Soul does release in November. A lot of cinemas have closed in the UK, revenue may be compromised. Not sure I can see them releasing it direct to Disney+ though. --Spongebob456 talk 08:59, October 6, 2020 (UTC)
Did you want to add Soul to the main page and wiki navigation too, the latter replacing Onward? --Spongebob456 talk 09:28, October 6, 2020 (UTC)

Image name abuse again

The image File:Images.jpeg has once again been subjected to the kind of abuse to which files of this kind of name are often subjected; User:ThunderStruck820 has uploaded a new version which is not an improvement upon the old, ignoring the warnings which s/he must have been given. Also, this is of course a bad image name which should be renamed accordingly. -- evilquoll (talk) 10:41, September 26, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. The user has been blocked. I looked at the image and it was only being used on a user profile page from 2011 so I just deleted it. Thanks. --Jeff (talk) 13:37, September 26, 2020 (UTC)

Answer to your letter on talk page

To Dvcnut,

I only added a blank heading on Nicole Grindle’s page because she was more than just a producer before at PIXAR.

I hope that you understand.

From Cameron

P.S. I actually took your advice from last year and changed all of the credits to say what they’re supposed to.

There's no reason to add a blank heading to a page. That's why I reverted all 4 of those changes. If you're not going to add the actual filmography content, there's no need for the blank section. --Jeff (talk) 19:21, September 28, 2020 (UTC)

I am not interested in having people come to our wiki and leave messages for people regarding other wikis. This isn't Community Central. He had never made any contributions to this wiki before so I blocked him. But I removed your comment to his talk page also so please don't that again. --Jeff (talk) 14:48, October 6, 2020 (UTC)

Soul release

And there we go - Soul coming straight to Disney Plus! That is a very pleasant surprise and will make for a nice Christmas. Is that a move you're happy with? Happy we've got the wiki ready. We still good to add Soul to the wiki navigation to replace Onward? --Spongebob456 talk 11:48, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

Well, I'd much rather see it in a movie theater with lots other Pixar fans but I don't think that scenario will occur for another year, so yes, I'd rather have it now than wait that long. I finally got around to updating the top-level navigation to replace the Onward link with Soul. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 18:55, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
I see what you mean about going to cinemas. Certainly for Pixar, they do feel like event movies I think. I hope they promote it on Disney+ enough and that it gets the traffic it deserves as I know a lot of work will have been put into it. Early reviews of the opening look good which is positive! Thanks for adding that to the nav. Is there anything else preparation wise you feel needs to happen? --Spongebob456 talk 16:57, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
I think we're good! Hopefully others will fill out some of the Soul character and actor pages. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 17:05, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Non-Pixar images

I have recently tagged several (I think it was 8) images for deletion, because they're not Pixar. Sorry for not linking to them, but my tablet makes that unfeasible. -- evilquoll (talk) 12:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

It was actually 5 articles and 3 images. -- evilquoll (talk) 12:56, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
OK, I found them and deleted them all, thanks. Jeff (talk) 13:45, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

User:LixFan2005

User:LixFan2005 has pasted a series of pages, and page images, for "characters from the Luxo Jr. shorts". I have seen all five shorts (the original and the four Sesame Street ones), and I don't remember any of these characters being in them.

Clean up needed, methinks.

Thanks, think I deleted all of the marked files/pages. Let me know if I missed anything or if the pages come back. I'm not familiar with these series of shorts, do you know if they're on any home media? Jeff (talk) 20:21, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

That is because you never seen them before! They were uploaded by a YouTube user named PixarFan 8695!

Sounds like they are fan made, which are cool but this wiki is for official Pixar information only! But you can put the images on your own profile page or blog! Thanks. Jeff (talk) 20:23, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

The Luxo Jr. Short Series is awesome! Why do we have to avoid it’s characters though? They are really cool!

I think there SHOULD be pages about the Luxo Jr. Short Series because it is REALLY REALLY awesome! Is that okay with you guys? (Please don’t block me...) -LixFan2005

Thanks for the note. I'm not familiar with this series of short films. Were they produced by Pixar? If not, we would only have 1 page for the entire series and wouldn't have individual character pages. We also need to make sure these shorts or the images are not fan-made. Thanks. Harley Gerson = Daniel Gerson (& Harley Jessup?)

To Dvcnut,

I actually have a question that could be interesting. Is Harley Gerson’s first name a reference to Harley Jessup? Because I’m thinking while I’m looking at it, that could be true.

From Cameron

P. S. I didn’t edit it, because I’m waiting to hear true information.

Good question, unfortunately I don't know the answer! That's a distinct possibility, you could try some internet searches and see if you find any official confirmation. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 03:05, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Crazy Nate confirmed Easter Egg!

To Dvcnut,

I actually watched a YouTube video of Easter Eggs from Finding Dory, and it turns out that Paul Kanyuk made a cameo when Dory & Hank waited for the signal!

Inside Pixar

Hey there. Disney Plus announced today a new series that goes behind the scenes of Pixar called Inside Pixar. Here's the trailer! Is this something you plan on covering on the wiki? I can't wait to watch it! --Spongebob456 talk 19:09, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

I've heard rumors of this series, can't wait for it. I'm sure someone will create a page for it. Thanks for the heads up. Jeff (talk) 05:58, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
No worries! I had some time spare so I went ahead and seeded the article just now. Hopefully the community can add to it. :) --Spongebob456 talk 10:03, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Is there an Associate Producer of Soul?

To Dvcnut,

I keep seeing that Michael Warch is the associate producer of Soul. Is that true and is there any proof?

From Cameron

Soul prep

Hi, so we are just about 5-6 weeks away from release of Soul and just thought I'd check in about plans for this.

Will you be able to watch it around Christmas do you think? Should contributors be able to add content? I won't be around on day of release but I will likely be around before release and intermittently in the week of Christmas. :) --Spongebob456 talk

Yes, I hope to watch it sometime that day, can’t wait! Contributors can begin adding content on the day of the release. I think we should be in good shape. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 12:28, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
Cool, the community seem really on the ball. There seems to be a good amount of activity in Discussions as well which will be great to see how that pans out when the movie releases. Have you seen much talk on the movie on the wiki? Coming straight to Disney+ perhaps may give more discussion for the movie which will be great to see, although the lack of a theatre experience also has its negatives as you said. --Spongebob456 talk 19:12, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
The wiki saw a very large spike in views yesterday (over 50% more!) but I can't find why. Can you think of why? --Spongebob456 talk 11:06, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
No, I don’t know why the views would be so high, perhaps they’re doing more advertising for ‘’Soul’’ now that it’s getting closer. I haven’t paid attention to any of the discussions, I usually try to avoid the TV spots, trailers, etc, trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible until the last minute. I’m glad there’s a lot of interest in the film, I think it will be a good one! Jeff (talk) 13:15, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, a colleague of mine mentioned the advertising campaign. Great it's helping the wiki! For the main page slider, since UCP migration, it requires a mouse hover to read the text. There is a fix I can add for this if that would help? --Spongebob456 talk 19:49, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
Sure, go for it, thanks! Jeff (talk) 02:19, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
Cool, it is done! Sorry for the delay in that. Looking at the main page, just thinking about any more prep we could do. For search engine reasons, would it be possible to move the slider beneath the intro next? Fandom did some research into main pages last year and having that lede paragraph is really important for search engine results. As you can see in that research page, it's been found Sliders have limited effectiveness. I can't stop you from using it, but I just wonder if it was something you would consider after reading that? --Spongebob456 talk 10:04, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
I haven't had time to read these articles but I don't have a problem with you moving the slider under the lead paragraph. Thanks much for the assistance! Jeff (talk) 04:26, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
Cool, moved! Approaching release, one area I remember bringing up earlier this year was infoboxes. Would you want more fields in those? Just so more key information can be included. I appreciate this would be a bigger, longer term goal but it's possible to could get key Soul articles updated with additional fields. --Spongebob456 talk 16:58, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! I’ll think about the info boxes. I guess I’m not sure what extra content we would add to them. I think someone has created specialized character templates for some films, maybe ‘’Finding Nemo’’ or others, not sure. Jeff (talk) 17:34, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
Sorry for the late reply! Not sure I received a notification. Sounds good! That can also be a project for the new year so time to think about it. :) --Spongebob456 talk 19:25, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

User:Colin Drake McDaniel

May be a vandalism-only account; has made a series of bad edits to 2022 (which you reverted), and created blank pages for WALL•E 2 and for 2025; he also removed a delete tag from the latter page, and moved it into the meta space. Also, he is also almost certainly a sock of User:Colin McDaniel. -- evilquoll (talk) 04:30, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, the pages have been deleted and user blocked. Jeff (talk) 06:15, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Sorry about the revert

I had forgotten that I'd installed that script; I don't think I've ever used it (deliberately). I have no idea what could have triggered it. 🙄 -- evilquoll (talk) 05:36, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

No worries! I figured it must’ve been a mistake. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 13:38, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

The Lewis Hamilton (Car) article keeps getting edited by (new?) user User:Deltacharlie001, who repeatedly inserts the trivia item "his design is based on a McLaren 12c" despite the fact that this is already in the article as a non-trivial item. He(?) is getting rather upset about this continually being reverted, so perhaps a gentle word (not from me) is in order. -- evilquoll (talk) 09:08, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, I’ve left the user a message and will watch for any similar edits. Jeff (talk) 14:12, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Announcements, announcements, announcements!

Hi - so many Announcements yesterday which I see you already got to. Lightyear, Cars (TV series), Turning Red, Win or Lose, Pixar Popcorn, Dug Days, and more! Crazy day haha. Are you excited for those? --Spongebob456 talk 09:45, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Fandom feedback

Hey again! I wanted to forward on a Fandom survey which we'd appreciate you completing (apologies if you already received it!)

It's been a very challenging year around the world and with Fandom experiencing changes, we want to reflect back on our work in 2020. We’d love to hear your opinion about the work that we’ve done in previous months.

We’ve had a lot of major changes this year, and we would like to continue working in the right direction and find solutions to any problems you may have. We would greatly appreciate you filling out this form with your feedback about your experience on the platform this year, so we can get a sense of how we did, how we can improve, and what our focus should be for 2021. This survey will be totally anonymous, so feel free to be as honest and constructive as possible.

Also, feel free to join our Discord server if you haven’t already. This is an active place for users of all communities to come together and interact with various staff members from different departments, either through scheduled AMAs or just general everyday conversation so that we can collect feedback from you about our platform and see how we can work to implement those changes. We’d love to see you there!

Thank you in advance for giving us your feedback and thank you for all of your continued hard work on Fandom as always. Feel free to pass the survey form among other wiki admins and team members. Happy holidays! :D --Spongebob456 talk 17:02, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Discord message

Hey again - I sent you on a message on Discord, would you mind checking please? Sent it there as it had to be kept private. :) --Spongebob456 talk 16:24, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Christmas Day

Hey again! Just letting you know I'm due to be Out of Office from tomorrow until January 4, but if you need anything urgent please feel free to DM me on Discord though answers may be a bit delayed.

Depending on how things go, could we put up an Announced Discussions post on the movie on Christmas Day? I know it's a time of festivities, and if you would like me to do this please let me know as I'd be more than happy to.

Happy Holidays! --Spongebob456 talk 17:31, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

Happy holidays to you too! I will be pretty busy Christmas Day, we’ll have family over and I’m cooking so won’t have time to get to anything Pixar related until late in the day. So if you’re able to put up a post that would be much appreciated. Thanks much, have a safe and joyous new year. Jeff (talk) 02:54, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Someone isn’t following the credits for Soul and needs to be blocked!

To Dvcnut,

I know we haven’t spoke in a while, but there’s a problem. There’s this person named Nicky.correale who is not typing the Soul credits right AT ALL. I keep having to change the mistakes, and I’m getting tired of it. Can you please block Nicky.correale so that I can fix the Soul Credits without any problems?

From Cameron

Please see his comment on your talk page and below, hopefully things will go smoothly from here. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 17:51, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello from Soul

I'm going to follow the credits and learned my lesson.

OK, thank you. Just make sure the information and credits match the official press kit. Thank you. Jeff (talk) 17:50, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

ErewhonRobinsonThe2nd is the new criminal and must be blocked FOREVER!

To Dvcnut,

The criminal I’m speaking of is speaking of false Toy Story movies. Can you please block him forever?

From Cameron

Thank you for the note, the pages have been deleted and user blocked. A couple of notes for future such instances. Rather than add the candidate for deletion category, you should use the {{Delete}} template. You can then add the reason for deleting the page, like {{Delete|Not official}}. Second, this isn’t ‘’criminal’’ behavior, just someone being a troll. So no need for calling them a criminal, just leave a short message on my talk page and I’ll take care of it, thanks!! Jeff (talk) 16:33, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

New Toy Story 4 Easter Eggs found!

To Dvcnut,

I just found 3 new easter eggs for Toy Story 4, and they are actually true, they are: 1. A sign saying "Holland’s Holiday", possibly a nod to Daniel Holland. 2. When Woody & Forky are being chased by The Bensons and being stuck in the typewriter, the front actually says "Bullock", a nod to Torbin Xan Bullock. 3. During the first end credits scene, there’s a sign saying "New Stanton Beach", an obvious nod to Andrew Stanton.

From Cameron

P. S. I also remembered from the video’s audio commentary and a WIRED video on YouTube that Axel The Carnie is named after Axel Geddes, the film editor.

P. S. S. I’ve also added some more true Easter Eggs from Incredibles 2. In case you need to know if they are true, the info is in the movie’s animation commentary and on Crazy Nate’s YouTube video on said Easter Eggs.

About Newt Edits

So on the message on my talk page, you're basically telling me that a movie being cancelled/scrapped in cinemas, such as Soul should never be compared to a movie being cancelled/scrapped period, such as Newt, Am I correct? The whole time, I wasn't actually sure because to be honest, I believed the term "cancelled theatrical film" meant a movie that was originally going to hit cinemas, but then downgraded to direct-to-video, straight-to-DVD, TV, or streaming. Anyways on the message, what is a short template supposed to mean, I don't really get it.Sstanford2 (talk) 20:14, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Correct, Soul wasn't cancelled/scrapped. Disney decided to release it in a different manner. I don't consider that being in any way cancelled or even downgraded, just a different delivery mechanism. newt was in production and then they decided to not move forward with the film. These are very different scenarios.
As for the short template, if you edit the page source, you'll see we use a template called short for the little infobox in upper-right corner. I have reformatted it to look better, using multiple lines for the template. It's not a big deal. But before you undo someone's changes, you should look closely at what is being undone. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 21:20, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Project

Hey again! Did you have a great Christmas? What did you think of Soul? Hopefully you saw the Discussions post I put up on Christmas Day.

Last year, we spoke about the possibility of including more rows in infoboxes and I know you said you'd think about that. I've drawn up an example here, do you have any thoughts on that?

If you have any sections that can be added feel free to say so, the more the merrier! :) --Spongebob456 talk 14:58, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey guys. Hope you had a good Christmas, and Happy New Year to you. I like the character infobox that Spongebob456 has created. I am not so sure of the enemy or friends sections, as that is up to interpretation, but it looks nice. I say go with it. - RaptorWiki (Ryan) 15:40, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
Yep, we had a quiet but great Christmas, thanks! I also think the new infobox looks very nice, thanks! I do have concerns similar to Ryan regarding fields like enemies and friends, but we already have similar infoboxes for superheros, (look at Bob Parr), so I think yes, go ahead and put it out. I might put the series info above the Personal section since I think the latter could get quite long. But yes, go for it! Thanks. Jeff (talk) 21:00, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi guys, sounds great! I can easily remove friends/enemies for sure - it's just a common one some communities add, it's not mandatory or anything. I see the other infoboxes for the different type of character such as animal, superhero etc. Should we make this one an evergreen one for human non-superhero ones? The other infoboxes for other types of character look really good and this can coexist with those for sure. Characters like Mirage may be suited for this infobox for example.
We could replace the Friends and Enemies fields and merge them with Affiliations perhaps? Characters they've been affiliated with in the movie? Just thinking it would be good, in the case of Joe Gardner, to have 22 on the infobox somewhere. I've gone ahead and added the code to Template:Character as you said (making sure old fields are preserved so we don't need to re-edit those articles), feel free to edit it as you see fit. :)
Could we start some sort of editing event to encourage users to fill out each of the fields once we approve the final design? Just to spread the workload. --Spongebob456 talk 17:21, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Hey guys - it has just occurred to me my above message is unnecessarily long haha sorry for the flood. To confirm, is it ok for me to create an Announced Discussions post asking community members to fill out articles using that infobox? :) Spongebob456 (talk) 09:16, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, yes go ahead and post a discussion. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 14:26, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
Cool, will do! I've left friends/enemies in as you said above that other infoboxes use that too. Still feel free to change that and the order of the sections as you see fit. :) Spongebob456 (talk) 09:17, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Bad image and problem user

User:A1 catering manager has uploaded an image, File:Image0 (16).jpg, which apart from having a bad file name, also appears to be said user, standing naked in the street. Although this image is so low-resolution that the privates cannot be discerned (not by me at any rate), all the same this is not the kind of image (or of user) that is wanted on a kids' wiki. — evilquoll (talk) 19:51, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. The user has been blocked and offending image will be deleted shortly. Jeff (talk) 20:40, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

Characters category

Jeff, I think a long time ago we decided to not have characters in BOTH the Characters category AND the specific work's Character category. I quickly found this...

https://pixar.fandom.com/wiki/User_talk:RaptorWiki#Character_Question

There are probably more if I dig back further, and possibly a discussion between you and I somewhere. I still think it is redundant. Thoughts?

Thanks!

-RaptorWiki (Ryan) 13:48, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, we have discussed this before and have always thought it was redundant. But lately I’ve been thinking, would there be a benefit to be able to see all pages within a category, like all character pages? When I saw all the edits the last couple of days adding the Character category, I decided I wasn’t going to try and revert it all. I think my thoughts regarding sub-categories come from my technical background, that a sub-category is already contained in the top-level so no reason to also include the top-level. But I’ve seen other wikis using “overlapping” categories. Maybe they need to be thought more of as just tags and not a structured hierarchy? I don’t know, I like the way we’ve done it. Maybe it comes down to if there’s value to see all pages within a hierarchy of a category. I’m traveling right now and don’t have a lot of time to put much thought into it. If you’re still good with how it’s been done, it wouldn’t take us long to revert all the changes by the one user. Jeff (talk) 14:39, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
I don't know....I am in the same boat with the technical background, being an Engineer... I don't know if there's much value in seeing all of the characters at once. Seems to be category clutter. I will have to think about it more as well... - RaptorWiki (Ryan) 14:51, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
I think I like our setup, why does anyone need to see all the characters? You’re right, I think it will also lead to too much category clutter. Unless you think differently, I will start reverting the recent changes. Jeff (talk) 20:15, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Pixar Popcorn and Luca!

Hi, a lot of news recently - Pixar Popcorn saw a trailer and Luca got a new image. Pixar Popcorn coming this Friday is exciting, covering a lot of different properties. I've noticed more activity lately which is good! Will you be able to catch it this Friday? Spongebob456 (talk) 19:58, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, it seems there's been a lot of activity recently, seems folks are filling in the new character template you created. Thanks for your work on that.
I saw that Pixar Popcorn came out, will have to watch it soon. We've been quite busy lately so haven't had much free time but things are slowly returning to normal, should be able to catch up with it by next week. Jeff (talk) 17:17, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
No problem, happy to help there. I watched Pixar Popcorn this morning, curious to see your thoughts on it. Great to see more Original Pixar content on Disney Plus, hope to see more of it. The Pixar rollout seems to have been quite dense the last month or so which is positive, including the Luca teaser image. Spongebob456 (talk) 19:35, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Main page?

Hello, Dvcunt! I was wondering why isn't your main page locked for only admins. I think that keeping it unlocked would be a good way to get trolled.

Thanks for the message. We've had very little vandalism on the main page so haven't had a need to lock it. We are also quite aggressive with vandals, blocking permanently so it hasn't been much of an issue. Thanks again. Jeff (talk) 16:59, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

Realization Notice

To Dvcnut,

I actually noticed that there’s a page that needs to be deleted. It turns out Emily Davis was actually Emily Forbes, according to the credits of La Luna. Can you please delete the page Emily Forbes so that I can fix the other page?

From Cameron

From looking at the press kits for Toy Story 4, Lamp Life and Purl, there is no voice actor named Emily Forbes. Emily Davis is the correct name. I will remove Emily Forbes but please do not rename or move the existing Emily Davis page. Also, please use the {{Delete}} template for marking pages for deletion. Do not just add the candidate for deletion category. The Delete template will automatically add the category, and the template allows you to add the deletion reason. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 17:03, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

OK, sorry if I didn’t know the "Candidates For Deletion" thing. Also, why did you delete the credits for Pixar Popcorn shorts? Did they take up space or are you not ready for them yet?

For such short content there is no need for a separate credits page. The credits can be put directly on the main shorts page. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 17:34, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

Which book for Finding Nemo characters?

I just wanna know which book is good for the descriptions/biographies (whichever you prefer) of the Finding Nemo characters, similar to Car Finder for descriptions Cars characters. Finding Nemo: The Essential Guide, Pixarpedia (I used it on Chuckles, Bob, Ted, Phil (formerly Bill), the anglerfish, Blenny, the trawler men (formerly fishermen), Barbara, Mr. Johanssen, Sheldon, Pearl, Tad (I did Sheldon, Pearl, and Tad because their descriptions were separate), the barracuda, Gerald (the pelican, not the seal from the sequel), the blue scuba diver, the jellyfish, the moonfish, the seagulls, Baz and Bernie, and the school class (formerly marine education), or Disney Pixar Character Encyclopedia?

That’s a great question! Unfortunately I’m not too familiar with any of those books. I think you should ask this question on the discussion page! You can get to that page via the “Discuss” link at the top of most pages. I hope this helps! Jeff (talk) 22:10, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Are Bert & Andrea from Cars named after Bert Berry & Andrea Warren?

To Dvcnut,

I actually have a theory about two of the Cars characters. It was that Andrea & Bert are named after Andrea Warren & Bert Berry. Is that true?

From Cameron

Unfortunately I’m not sure about that, sorry! Jeff (talk) 21:06, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Thumper Infobox Image

Since the original infobox image on Thumper's page is over a decade old & has never been updated, I've attempted to update to a larger, better-quality image. However, a user named Cole puppet13 doesn't seem to agree with the new image. If you agree with Cole puppet13, could you mind explaining why the original image is still better?Sstanford2 (talk) 18:49, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Actually, I agree with Cole puppet13, I think the original image is better - it’s a close-up and is brighter. I like your image too - why don’t you create a gallery on the page and add it there? Thanks! Jeff (talk) 17:14, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Maybe you're right about that; I just thought it would be better to use a cropped screenshot closer to the character's introduction rather than one moments before his defeat. Do you think a transparent image (where it's just the character him/herself on a transparent background like on most infoboxes on this wiki) could possibly be an acceptable update (if it's brighter & not poor-quality of course)?Sstanford2 (talk) 18:21, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Yes, possibly! Let me point out, just because an image was uploaded 10 or more years ago does not make it a poor image, right? A Bug’s Life came out over 20 years ago - there’s not any new content coming from that film so an image uploaded a decade ago, if good resolution and clarity, can be as good as any image uploaded today. But sure, if you have other images you think are good, why don’t you first put them in a gallery section? I’ve noticed over time then some of these photos will end up in the info box. Also, if you change the info box photo, make sure to put the old info box photo in the gallery so it doesn’t get lost. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 21:43, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

I accidentally created a same page

To Dvcnut,

I accidentally created another page for the fifth Pixar Popcorn episode. The difference is the & symbol. Can you please delete one of the pages? (My recommendation would be the one that has "and" in the title, because of what the Pixar Popcorn page titled the fifth episode.)

From Cameron

P.S. Happy Valentines Day to all Pixar Couples!

Thanks for the note. Why don’t you add the Delete template to the one you think should be deleted, to make sure the correct one gets removed? Thanks! Jeff (talk) 17:15, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

I actually used the Candidates For Deletion thing, because I don’t know how to use the template you told me.

Oh, well that’s OK, here’s a great opportunity to learn how to use it! Go back to the page, remove the category and use this: {{Delete|Duplicate page}}. The “duplicate page” part is optional, it’s the reason why the page should be deleted and you can put anything you want there. In this way, that message will be shown on the page. Let me know if you have any problems with the template! Thanks. Jeff (talk) 00:17, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Incredibles 2 notice!

To Dvcnut,

I was watching Cookie Num Num and I just saw something worth adding. On the refrigerator, there is a label on the top door that says "Burrows", which is a possible reference to the sets shading lead Christopher M. Burrows.

From Cameron

P.S. NASCAR today! Be sure to gather all your Cars merch!

Good catch, yes, that might be a reference. The next time I watch the film I’ll watch for it. Jeff (talk) 03:12, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Invite

Hey again!

If you can check your email associated with your Fandom account (it may be in spam!), you'll hopefully find an invite to join us for The Monthly, a special private Fandom webinar-style event hosted by our Global Community Lead, Will ‘MisterWoodhouse’ Kavanagh. This series will cover important topics affecting the wiki platform on a monthly basis, giving you a briefing on what you need to know from Fandom, with some purely fun stuff as well.

The first edition of The Monthly is this Friday, February 26th with two opportunities to join: 9am and 4pm US Eastern. Future editions of The Monthly will be the final Friday of each month, schedule permitting. If you have any questions, please let me know! :) --Spongebob456 talk 19:46, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

OK, thanks, I’ll look for the invite! I’m out of town this week so can’t make it on the 26th but I look forward to joining on future meetings! Jeff (talk) 03:56, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
Awesome, that would be great! --Spongebob456 talk 19:35, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Hello

Can we please get the standard background back before moving on to Luca? Oinkypiggamer (talk) 23:29, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Hmm, yes, I should be able to switch it back, give me a couple of days. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 03:53, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

You're welcome! Oinkypiggamer (talk) 18:04, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

The wiki background seems to be too short

Sorry to bother, but it seems that the standard background is too short, maybe this should work, thank you. Oinkypiggamer (talk) 20:31, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

I think this should be better, forgot to change the background color. Jeff (talk) 20:41, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

I need help with Cars 2 Credits, please!

To Dvcnut,

I managed to finish all of the Brave Credits, and I’m now working on Cars 2 Credits, but the issue is that I can’t finish it without "Pixar Studio Team", and it’s not there. Can you please help?

Thanks, Cameron

P.S. Daisuke "Dice" Tsutsumi is getting the June Foray award for the Tortoro Forest Project!

That's pretty exciting about Dice getting that award, well deserved. As for adding to the Cars 2 credits, I'm unfortunately pretty busy so don't have a lot of time for adding a lot of new content. Thanks for all your effort!! Jeff (talk) 18:44, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Blocking policy

Hey there! Just giving you the heads up that Fandom recently posted a blog about The Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy coming to Fandom on April 1. This basically sets out that wikis need to have clear and fair wiki policies and block according to those policies.

I know this wiki has policies, which is great!, and I just wanted to alert you of this really in case you wanted to take this opportunity to revisit them as needed. If you have any questions on this please let me know and I'm more than happy to help!

Also, slight aside, I know the background has been changed (looks good!) but there is a purple line running down the middle, did you want me to fix that? :) --Spongebob456 talk 13:13, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Good, thanks for the link and heads up. I wouldn't mind expanding on our policies and more clearly defining them. I'm in the middle of tax season but should be finished with that by the end of the month. So hopefully in April I can compare our current policies to the recommendations and update them as necessary. Jeff (talk) 15:51, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for the late reply! Yeah revisiting policies may be useful. They look good now but as a wiki evolves it is sometimes useful to to see what can be added. --Spongebob456 talk 12:49, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Bug smashing

Starting a new thread - am I good to do an Announced post like this on the wiki? Fandom is trying to clamp down on bugs and users can really help that with more reports. --Spongebob456 talk 12:49, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Yea, I’m good doing a post for this, thanks! Jeff (talk) 13:53, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

The Monthly - March 26

Hey again - sorry for another message! Last month we announced that Fandom is doing a monthly admin get together called The Monthly to keep you up to date with the latest Fandom news. The next session will be next week, Friday, March 26.

Last month, you should have received an email about it, with the option to either opt-in or opt-out of receiving invites. If you haven't already, please do dig up the first email and select one of the following options:

  • opt-in will put you on the monthly mailing list, ensuring that you'll get an invite each time. Next week's invite has been sent out!
  • opt-out will take you off the mailing list.

It is known that the links will appear broken when you click on them, but your chosen preference will still be registered.

If you want to let me know which option you chose, that would be great as if you decided to opt out then I will stop messaging you about it. Many thanks! :) --Spongebob456 talk 14:29, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

I don't see I ever received an email about this last month. Can you send me a new one, I would opt-in. Jeff (talk) 15:56, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Sorry for the late reply! I missed this message. I will see if we can send you a new email. Alternatively, if not, I can send you the Zoom links on Discord. To confirm, it's the email associated with your Fandom account? --Spongebob456 talk 20:45, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
I have sent the links to you in Discord DM anyway :) --Spongebob456 talk 20:56, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, the email on my fandom account is correct. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 02:03, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

FandomDesktop

Hi again, another message from me sorry! If you get time, if you can check out this important blog about FandomDesktop that'd be great. It's about some substantial design changes coming to Fandom. Any feedback appreciated, thanks! --Spongebob456 talk 13:53, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Oh my goodness, it seems I thought you wanted all of RaptorWiki's talk page!! I always ctrl C every message for safety and it seems you got it all. Apologies! --Spongebob456 talk 15:44, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
LOL, no worries! it took me a few seconds to realize what had happened but was easy to fix! I’ll hopefully get to look at the fandom desktop post later. Jeff (talk) 18:20, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Purple links

Hey there! Some of the links on the wiki (such as on buttons and on the Pixar header on the nav) have turned purple due to some CSS selector changes on Fandom's end. I can fix this by changing: a:visited {color: #5a3696;} to div#content a:visited {color: #5a3696;}. Is that ok if I change that? --Spongebob456 talk 15:42, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi, just wondering it's ok for me to do this? I also know Buzzfan has posted messages below re Discussions, are you good with deleting those posts? I know we assigned Global Discussion Moderators I believe but wanting to check in with how that's going. --Spongebob456 talk 09:03, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for some reason I’m not getting notified of new messages on my talk page so hadn’t seen you left a message. :( Yes, please go ahead and modify the CSS, thanks. I should have time to remove the offending posts within a couple days, thanks. Jeff (talk) 12:07, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
No worries! Especially on talk pages, I am not great at getting back too quickly haha. Re no notifications, trying to figure that out - I can't see any active tickets at the moment. Is it all talk page notifications? --Spongebob456 talk 13:42, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
I did get a notification for your last edit of my talk page, so it's most likely I just missed the email, don't think it's a system issue. Thanks for taking care of the CSS! Jeff (talk) 15:47, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
No worries! Also side note - Soul winning the Oscar, wooooo! Am I good to update the page with that? I don't want to tread on anyone's toes as it were haha --Spongebob456 talk 16:25, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, was very excited that Soul won 2 awards, very well deserved. Yes, you can of course update the page, I added the info to the Soul Awards page already, but a statement about winning the Academy Award would be appropriate! Thanks! Jeff (talk) 18:03, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
Cool, added! In future with things like this, I may just add to the article to save talk page spam haha if that's all good. I see the new trailer for Luca is on the main article already, looks amazing! --Spongebob456 talk 15:22, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
Yea, please feel free to add at any time! Haven’t had time to watch the new trailer but have been hearing great things about it. Jeff (talk) 18:04, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

Can you please change the Luca Credits page to make it say what the poster says?

To Dvcnut,

I just edited the Soul Credits page because the second poster just came out and revealed some of the creators (which were actually true). But I can’t help but noticed you erased it. Can you please change it back? Also, Pixar Post revealed that Sajan Skaria and Beth Albright are the Character Supervisors for Luca.

From Cameron

I've re-added your edits to Luca Credits. Please, in the future, include where you're getting your information from in your edit comment. It's not that difficult. If unfamiliar, look at other pages and learn how to use references, or ask for assistance. Thank you. Jeff (talk) 02:46, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

Soul as an Animated Feature?

Because it was downgraded from a would've been theatrical film to a straight-to-Disney+ film, I sorta disagree with Soul being considered Pixar's "23rd animated feature", similar to how direct-to-video Disney sequels are not packaged as either the Disney animated canon's or the defunct Disneytoon Studios' animated features, despite the latter actually producing the films. I believe only theatrical movies are supposed to be designated as "animated features". A good suggestion could be for someone to inform this fact to Disney so they could possibly repackage Soul as "Disney+'s 1st animated feature"; either that, or they could eventually re-upgrade it to a theatrical film, thus making it more considerable to be an animated feature. Sstanford2 (talk) 13:24, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback and your thoughts! Things definitely do get a bit more murky now that Disney is sending some movies direct to their streaming service. It would be even more of an issue if Pixar had ever done direct-to-video films prior to Disney+. But Pixar has never done that and so I think of Soul just like any of Pixar’s other feature films. I don’t consider it a ‘’downgrade’’, it’s just the mechanism of releasing the film. Two other points that strengthened my belief: first, it was released to theaters internationally, just not in the US. Second, it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. Thanks again for your comments, and your work here on the Pixar Wiki! Jeff (talk) 12:05, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for informing me; I've also been having a nervous feeling of Disney planning to revolutionize their film industry, by discontinuing theatrical films (including Pixar), in favor of straight-to-Disney+ movies. We all know Disney can't make EVERY movie straight-to-streaming; it's much better to have diversity, and in the words of Syndrome from The Incredibles: if every movie's straight-to-streaming, no movie will be. Anyways, Soul was actually released theatrically outside the US? In which country(ies)? Sstanford2 (talk) 14:04, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
I looked at Box Office Mojo: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt2948372/ Jeff (talk) 22:32, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
So according to that, Soul was released theatrically in some countries on December 24 (Christmas Eve) 2020, one day before its Disney+ release in the US; so there it can hereby be packaged into Pixar's animated canon, since the worldwide release should be more important than just in the US. Thanks for showing evidence! Sstanford2 (talk) 16:56, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Minor character keep or delete argument?

A user named PlantaryWarsHead wants to delete the pages for the Web Kids from A Bug's Life, News Anchor, and the two interviewees from Monsters, Inc.. Do you want these pages to be kept or deleted? They really do have decent information from the Pixarpedia book (you should buy the book).

He also got rid of my redirect from "Woody" to "Woody Pride" as that is his last name revealed in a [ tweet] by Lee Unkrich Dillonjames06 (talk) 23:50, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

If they have "decent information" about them then write an equally decent page about them, simple as otherwise they're not really necessary Also Woody's surname (which I do know is Pride because I too saw Lee Unkrich reveal it ages ago) is trivia, he's never referred to it in any movie, short, game or any other form of media so redirecting from "Woody Pride" is a necessary edit PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 01:03, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

You don't want to cause a edit war on the pages I mentioned above, do you? Lee said the surname has been since the earliest days of developing the original Toy Story. Also did you not read the part about Pixarpedia? Plus, only the admin can reply to only one of us, not one at the same time.

I saw the Pixarpedia point clear as crystal but the only one causing the edit war is you, if admins think it should or shouldn't be deleted THEY will make the decision based on the nomination hence why it's there and while Lee has confirmed it because Woody is never referred to as "Woody Pride" then it still counts as trivia, they could say Buzz's middle name was always Clarence but that would still be trivia also because he's never referred to by it PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 01:14, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

Excuse me? Who did you say caused the edit war? I did not cause the edit war. You're the one who caused because I was the one who created the pages, not you. Why are you hating on me? All I did was try to help this wiki get more pages so people could visit this website more often. Dillonjames06 (talk) 00:19, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

By removing a valid nomination for the admins to decide upon is causing an edit war, no hating at all, help the site by all means but stop removing a nomination for very minor characters or take on my feedback and write a better page because they are genuinely not written very well PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 01:23, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

No pages for the very minor characters is gonna confuse people. The people are gonna be like, "Wait, where's the kids that played with Dim, and the news people from Monsters, Inc.?" I tried my best to write a page, although I did fine on Dot's Friends. Dillonjames06 (talk) 00:27, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

"Wait, where's the kids that played with Dim, and the news people from Monsters, Inc.?" said no-one ever, they're so background characters who are so minor nobody really cares about them, that is the most contrived excuse for a page's existence but by that logic we need a page for the daddy long legs that steps over Flik or the dinosaur toys Lotso touches PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 01:33, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

Listen here, this isn't you wiki, it's Jeff's. You can't edit very quickly if you see a edit made by me. And instead of continuing to undo my edits, please ask on the message wall, or bring an administrator in. Otherwise there's a chance after continuing to undo my edits multiple times, you may get blocked.

No you listen here because I've gone the proper route of nominating those pages for deletion for the admins to look at and decide whether they're necessary, I could've easily just wiped the entire page but I nominated and gave a valid reason for it, take your own advice and stop undoing that or you're risking being blocked too, this is all very simple so why can't you grasp that? PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 01:41, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

I'm trying to be a nice guy, but you're making me a very angry guy. If you don't want these pages then why keep Mr. Phillips when Buzz Lightyear escapes Scud before he saw the commercial although he only appears in the chair, sleeping?! Please no more edit wars and be a nice editor who is not a minor character hater... Dillonjames06 (talk) 00:47, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

So am I, I've made it very simple what you need to do now leave the nominations and let admins decide on whether they should remain, I can't speak for Mr Phillips' page because I didn't know he had one, I am not being a "minor character hater" I'm being a contributor and bringing to the attention of people with the real power to decide whether or not pages for background/minor characters have any place on the site, stop disrupting the process, if they deem it worthy enough to remain then think long and hard on how to improve the pages but if they're removed simply accept it, again all very simple what's not to understand? PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 01:52, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

I don't want to accept the characters deleted, because if they do, people who have Pixarpedia and seen the movies will still get confused. I forgot to mention that it is night time now. Don't you want to get some sleep and not argue later? Dillonjames06 (talk) 00:57, 23 May 2021 (UTC)

And that attitude is why this is escalating, let go of the ego, I contributed to another wiki with 3 new pages, felt proud of myself because I contributed I mean who wouldn't? Now 1 of those pages was nominated for deletion and ended up being deleted because it was written badly and it was written badly because there was hardly anything to write about it like with the four pages you've created and you know what I did? I accepted it from the nomination to the deletion, doesn't matter if they're in a book if there's barely anything to go off of in that then they really have no reason to exist on the site so I've nominated them for admins with the authority to decide upon it to do just that, if they feel the pages should stay and deserve to exist then I'll accept their decision to which you must use that second lease on life so to speak to improve their content and make them sound more informative but if they decide to delete them then you must accept their decision on that, it's how the process works, I'm trying to help here as much as you but you're being incredibly stubborn about it all PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 02:10, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

First, I apologize for not responding sooner, sometimes wikia doesn't send me email notifications when someone leaves a message on my talk page. Second, this wiki doesn't belong to a single person, I'm just an admin. But the site does have policies and a history of how contributors have wanted it to evolve, which is discussed more below.
As for Woody, I think it's OK to have a redirect from Woody Pride to Woody. I doubt anyone will ever use it, but I also don't see any harm in having it, and it's good for completeness.
Regarding the minor character pages. With the history of this site, we have shied away from pages with little content, or copying information from other sites. We're more interested in quality than quantity. Just copy/pasting a paragraph from a book seems to be violating that principle. On the other hand, I think it's great that this site strive for completeness, as I just mentioned regarding Woody. Can you add more information to some of these characters and make them more complete? Otherwise I think I'd lean towards removing the pages. I'm willing to get more feedback, so let's leave the delete templates on the pages and hopefully that'll spur others to get involved.
Finally, I thought the comment left on PlanetaryWarsHead's talk page was not appropriate and uncalled for. On the other hand, the comments above regarding these topics of minor characters has been great. Let's face it, there are times when reasonable people will have disagreements. Thanks for hashing it out on my talk page. Jeff (talk) 21:36, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
No worries, I know what you mean about not receiving emails for notifications. Anyway I agree with keeping Woody's surname in because it's a nice bit of trivia I've not denied Lee Unkrich's tweet because I saw him reveal it as well but because he's never referred to it by anyone in any associated media to me it didn't seem worth changing the existing page and redirecting from "Woody". And that is exactly what I was trying to get across to Dillonjames about the minor characters, to me it comes to "what's their reason to exist?" with regards to their pages. The kids on the web for instance have no impact on the movie they're basically just part of a joke that fills out the scene and nothing more so to me that doesn't warrant an entire page about them, they may well be in a book but I honestly doubt they'd be any more than a tiny corner of a larger page and the same goes for the news anchor and interviewees from Monsters, Inc.. I personally don't think there's enough information about them to even fill out a page individually however they could be a section within a page, so if there was a page about the bird party from Bug's Life it could have paragraphs about each gag you see which would include the web kids, if there was a page about the aftermath of the Harryhausen's "attack" each paragraph could be about each gag within that scene which would include the news anchor and the interviewees. My apologies if this sounds like rambling but this was just brainstorming on how they could be expanded or integrated into the wikia more effectively and informatively. PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 21:01, 25 May 2021 (GMT)

Nomination for deletion of minor character pages

Firstly I'd like to apologise for cluttering up your talk page

Secondly I'd like to just back up my side and dispute the apparent call of unfairness as well as going about deleting a page the correct way (as the above user is asking the exact thing I am nominating), I personally don't think there is enough information about the interviewed monsters and news anchor from Monsters, Inc. nor the ant kids stuck on the web in Bug's Life to warrant a full page about them so I took the correct route of nominating them with a valid reason, no vendetta or anything about it contrary to other beliefs, for yourself or another admin to decide upon. The above user then continually removed this nomination and acted stubbornly about refusing to leave it for the process of deciding the fates of the pages despite my again valid reasoning behind it. As for the redirect, I made it clear that though Pride is in fact Woody's confirmed surname it is not what he is ever referred to in the movies or other media by any of the characters, not even Al, an avid toy collector, refers to him by that name so it falls under trivia unlike Buzz who does get referred to by his surname. I shall admit, my handling may have been somewhat incorrect but that would not have happened had the above user just accepted my actions and left the deciding in the capable hands of someone from the admin team. I was not being unfair in the slightest.

If the decision is made to keep the pages, I'll accept that but if they are then I insist the pages need to be better written and more informative. User:PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 23:06, 23 May 2021 (GMT)

Pete Docter being executive producer on Lightyear

To Dvcnut,

Hello Dvcnut, My name is Joshua. I don't know if you heard about the leadership change at Pixar. Disney announced around 2018 that Pete Docter had been named chief creative officer for Pixar, and he will be an executive producer on all Pixar films under the new leadership. So, I don't understand why did you undo my edit on the LightYear article?

If you want further information, here's the link about Pete Docter leading Pixar https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/pete-docter-jennifer-lee-lead-pixar-disney-animation-1121432/

Your edit was reverted because things change and we only want official information on this site. Pixar has not officially said Docter will be an executive producer on the film yet, so while we all know he will be, until it is officially released we shouldn't include it. Especially for future films, information should not be added to those pages unless we have an official source or reference from Disney/Pixar. Thanks so much for asking, and for contributing to the site! Jeff (talk) 13:03, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Dillonjames stirring trouble again

I hate to trouble you again but Dillonjames is once again causing trouble. He has made edits to the Marlin and Coral pages but hasn't backed up or proven what he was doing and reverting edits again. This is beyond irritating now he either needs a stern talking to, reminder of any rules/policies or just a straight up ban from editing for an allotted time. User:PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 22:25, 26 May 2021 (GMT)

I did NOT do any trouble! Andrew, Lee, and Bob never said, "Coral died" in the commentary. I help the admins by: deleting the fanon pages, revert vandalism such as one edit made by user, Jorge Artiles Captain America saying Flo was voiced by Jane Lynch, when Flo was actually voiced by Jenifer Lewis, sort some of the minor Cars characters' last name for the category "Cars Characters".
You both must quit the constant edit wars. If an edit has been undone a couple of times, then stop it and bring it to an admin's attention. Dillonjames, you have been an awesome wiki editor here and have added great content, and cleaned up vandalism. But although they didn't say she died, they sure in the heck didn't say she lived. It is made for us to believe she died and unless we hear official proof otherwise, then she died. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 22:00, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
I'm by no means backchatting but in my defense, I reverted his edits because there was no proof she didn't die and Dillon didn't provide any on the page where the information or any proof or official word would be better suited and he decided to keep stubbornly reverting that. However, I am sorry for my actions here. User:PlanetaryWarsHead (talk) 23:33, 26 May 2021 (GMT)

Background Vandalizer

There's this user named Aqdan1978 that keeps switching the background to Onward and Toy Story 4, completely unaware that Onward came out on March, 2020 and Toy Story 4 came out on June, 2019. Can you please block this guy for me?

P.S. The real reason why I was reverting Plantary's edits is because I have autism. One of the effects for autism is difficulties relating and empathizing with other people. Trust me, I'm not good with explanations. Also you haven't replied to the "User talk:Dvcnut#FandomDesktop: QuickBar and more FandomDesktop: QuickBar and more" topic. Dillonjames06 (talk) 13:59, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, I have warned the user. Please let me know if it continues to happen. I haven't replied to the quick bar message because I don't really have an opinion on it, LOL. And no worries about the edit wars. You've done some awesome work here on the site. Just next time, come to an admin sooner (like you did with Aqdan1978) - things get resolved quicker without people getting as angry. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 14:34, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

So sorry I missed this!! I see someone already put it up. I will also add it to Fandomdesktop via CSS. Apologies again, wasn't ignoring, had a lot of notifications and I forgot to check your talk page. It's all go on the FandomDesktop side haha. Have you tried the new skin? What do you think? --Spongebob456 talk 08:53, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
No worries, I went ahead and added it myself. Thanks for adding it to the CSS. I haven't tried the new skin, or at least haven't noticed any issues with it, so I think everything is good. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 16:11, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

Minor Character Decision

Was a decision actually made on the pages for the interviewee and news anchor from Monsters and web kids from Bugs Life? Because Dillon has been adding more information (which I do think it's good he has) but he's also removed the nominations for deletion and it was my understanding only admins had the power to do so? I'm asking before actually doing anything just in case

Also I've seen the heads up but I had nothing on my talk page or anything about it User: PlanetaryWarsHead June 02 2021, 06:31 GMT

Please delete this page

I was hoping you could delete this page, since it is spam and not Pixar related.

Do we really need them?

Ok are we honestly allowing pages for every character who appears for even a second on screen? There are pages for Scared Ants and Punched Grasshopper now and they are literally in the movie for the tiniest fraction of the runtime with zero impact on anything. I thought the interviewees, news reader and web kids were one offs (and personally I still don't think there's enough information about them to warrant keeping the pages) but two ants with no dialogue and a background grasshopper that gets thumped getting pages is getting ridiculous to be honest, what's next? A page for the driver who nearly flattened Hamm in Toy Story 2? Every individual car seen in the route 66 flashback in Cars?. I would nominate them for deletion but I don't want there to be another editing war as I'm sure you don't either. Also, you haven't yet replied to my query about the nominations being removed by someone who isn't an admin before any decision on the pages have been made, something I remember seeing on another wiki someone got into trouble for and even got slapped with a week-long ban. If a decision has been made for the pages to remain I retract my question on that topic but the above about essentially filler characters is one I want your thoughts on. User:PlanetaryWarsHeadJune 09 2021, 16:56 GMT

That may be true they are not very impactful, but in the end I'm not going to try and stop someone from adding these pages. Sure, if there was a single sentence, or if the pages were constructed incorrectly with missing categories or sorting, that becomes a bother and I'll take action. But that's not the case here.
You are correct, if someone adds the delete template, the original poster shouldn't undo that. I'll try keeping a better eye on it. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 16:15, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
I agree, there shouldn't be any kind of prevention on adding pages but surely there has to be a line drawn? Like I said they're fillers that don't really need pages, at most a section on another page as with the others. With your permission, I would like to therefore nominate them for deletion as well as put the previous nominations back on the pages I nominated? User:PlanetaryWarsHead June 09 2021, 17:28 GMT
First of all, it's so refreshing to be discussing a more relevant topic like having too many pages, or the actual content on a page, rather than an outright vandal or having someone arguing about the quatrotagonist of a film, LOL. But here's the thing. Someone is actually taking their time to add relevant and correct content. Are we really going to prevent someone from doing that?
Yes, I'm being inconsistent. One of the goals of the site has been quality over quantity. These pages probably don't meet that criteria. But we have a lot of pages like that - we have pages for cars from the races in the Cars films that were on screen for mere seconds. Shouldn't those be deleted too? But I guess another goal, at least for me, is completeness. I want people to come to this site and know they are getting accurate and complete information.
Finally, if we decided to get rid of these pages, then we need discussion about what constitutes enough information. From what I've looked at, these pages have a couple of paragraphs. So if that's not enough, what is? 3? It can't be based solely on amount of screen time, I'm sure there are critical characters with very little screen time that we wouldn't remove. So it'd be a messy, time consuming process, leading to arguments about what does or doesn't meet the criteria. So, in the end, we have someone creating accurate and properly constructed content. Maybe it's not high quality content but it is creating more complete content. I'm not going to stop that. If we notice pages being created with no content, or a sentence or two, then please bring it to my attention. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 17:30, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
I fully understand what you're saying, that's why I thought it best to ask and I agree as well it's refreshing to actually discuss it like this.
On that note may I make a proposal; what if for characters such as these we combine them into a single page? For example combining the two interviewee pages and news anchor from Monsters Inc. into a page titled "Harryhausen's Aftermath" making a section for each segment in that scene on the page (one for the "we can neither confirm nor deny" agent, each interviewee, the scientist, the anchor) that way we have a quality page for all these individual gags and moments.
Probably more of a headache but it's merely a suggestion to clean up the wikia and put the quality over the quantity as you've said User:PlanetaryWarsHead June 09 2021, 18:48 GMT
Yes, that's a very good idea to combine the characters into a single page. Let me bring Dillonjames06 into this discussion so he's aware of this, then would you like to move forward with making this change? Do you have a good page name suggestion for the A Bug's Life characters that started this topic? Jeff (talk) 18:37, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
I'd be happy to move ahead with it for sure. I think the web kids could go into a page called "For The Bird" referencing what they're chanting in the scene, the two newer pages could go into one called "Hopper In The Hill" as obviously because that's what is happening and as I've said before the interviewees and anchor can go into "Harryhausen's Aftermath". These kind of pages could be categorised as "In Betweens" and the titles can be witty or even pun-like to say what is happening but also not be bland, think sort of like some of the titles for chapters on a DVD menu User:PlanetaryWarsHead June 09 2021, 20:05 GMT
I think the category would be the appropriate film character one, so A Bug's Life Characters, etc. I like unique title names, but it should still fit with the theme of the characters. I hadn't thought much about this, but these pages should be linked into other pages like the plot section of the relevant film page. So the names shouldn't be too outlandish. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 20:02, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
Yeah the character one does make more sense actually and another option for the page titles could be a line of dialogue from the scene? Instead of "Hopper In The Hill" possibly ""Where's My Food!?"" then the first paragraph could be the overview of "This page is about the scene where Hopper invades the Ant Hill" or something better written and informative than that. Failing that then something like "Hopper Invades The Ant Hill" could be the ultimate final pick.
I mean this is all good brainstorming that gets us closer to a single template and format to follow for future ones User:PlanetaryWarsHead June 09 2021, 21:25 GMT
Exactly. Thanks for your assistance!! Jeff (talk) 01:43, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

FandomDesktop prep

Hey! Creating a new thread for this as this is a bigger project. In terms of FandomDesktop, I would strongly recommend you try it out as we'll be rolling out this summer and I don't want you to miss user testing where we can fix things :). The wiki doesn't look too bad though, and most of the work will come with dark theme styling. I have created a fixes subpage and I'm trying to populate that with all styling issues and bugs on the FD skin on this wiki. If you do spot any, please feel free to add them to that page and I will get them fixed. I'll be here to support the wiki through migration. (I will try to check your talk page more frequently in future haha to avoid missing posts!) --Spongebob456 talk 18:45, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, I've moved over to the new style. I tried the dark theme but ran into a couple issues immediately when looking at page diffs. The dark blue against black is not enough contrast and so very hard to read the blue text. Then when displaying the differences, the text of the unchanged lines is very light, almost unreadable. Otherwise if I notice anything else I'll let you know. Jeff (talk) 19:22, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Yeah the dark theme issues especially around diffs are ticketed, fingers crossed they are fixed soon. The biggest thing with dark theme potentially is removing the CSS white background for the content area. Are you open to me removing that? --Spongebob456 talk 18:24, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
I don't know that we should move ahead with that until other issues with the dark theme are resolved. As it is, I don't think it's usable - take a look at the infoboxes for a film or character, the labels are almost the same color as the background color. I'm going to stick with the light background until some of these things get resolved. Jeff (talk) 19:05, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
I will fix the infoboxes for dark mode asap an see if we can get other templates like that too. Once they work in dark mode, would you be open to removing the white background so in dark mode it uses the dark background and in light mode the white background? --Spongebob456 talk 09:36, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
yes, once working in dark mode, then let's remove the white background, thanks.
On another topic, have you heard of any issues editing source won iPads? I was trying to reply to your message and it wouldn't let me. I would touch the edit source link next to the topic and it would just return me back to the topic (not in edit mode). If I touched edit source again, I would get an error message (message is: A problem repeatedly occurred on xxxxxx). I was finally able to edit the page by clicking the edit source link at the very top of the page. I haven't noticed this on other pages, but it's happened both yesterday and today trying to reply to your messages. Jeff (talk) 14:46, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Doing a little more research, after I left the above message from my ipad, I tried doing edit source again and it worked fine. Then I closed that tab, went back to my email and clicked the link from the email notification that you had left me a message, and tried the edit source button and it failed. I've tried that same path with email notifications I've received from other pages without success in duplicating. Maybe it has to do with how long my talk page is? Could there be some timeout occurring? Jeff (talk) 14:53, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Did you try leaving the messages both times using the email notification? Does the same happen if you navigate to your talk page manually? --Spongebob456 talk 19:14, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
Well, not able to duplicate/test the issue because there is no edit icon/text on talk pages any more. There's an edit icon on regular pages, but on any talk page, whether a user or main page, the only option for editing is to add a topic or the edit link in the 3 dots section. Actually, I see the edit icon pop up for a brief second then disappear so maybe something with CSS. I'll remove the code below and see if that resolves it. Be back soon.... Jeff (talk) 15:04, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Hey! Made some good progress today. Are you able to try removing the below code from MediaWiki:Common.css and trying the wiki in dark theme to see what happens?
#content {
    /*margin: 2.8em 0 0 12.2em;*/
	padding: 0 1em 1.5em 1em;
	background: #FFFFFF;
	color: #000000;
	border: 1px solid #808080;
	line-height: 1.5em;
	position: relative;
	z-index: 2;
}
I made some styling tweaks and worth saying nothing is final, we can edit anything. Chose some darker colours for some templates to fit with dark theme but we can totally change that - I didn't actually edit the colours on the templates themselves, rather just used CSS to make making changes easier. I just wanted to give you an idea of what dark theme would look like. :) --Spongebob456 talk 13:21, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
I removed the above code, I think dark mode looks very nice, thanks, I'll keeping using it.
I'm still not seeing the edit icon on talk pages. This is not related to dark/light mode. As I mentioned above, the icon is loaded on the page initially but then disappears. I used web developer to see if it was a simple CSS thing like a display:none but nothing jumped out at me, maybe it's something with javascript? Hopefully it's something that can get resolved quickly. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 15:23, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Happy you like dark mode! Are you happy with the colour of the content area? That can be changed to a different dark colour via Special:ThemeDesigner if you want to play around. I think the wiki is very nearly ready if not already ready. Could you give it a quick checkover when you have the chance? If you - and fellow admins are happy - please do go to Special:AdminDashboard and click "Mark as ready" so we know the wiki is ready for migration. Just to say if you click that, the wiki won't migrate immediately, it just lets us know it's ready when we start migrating.
Re no edit sections, I have now found out that's a known bug that's being worked on as a priority - very annoying! Hopefully it can be resolved soon. --Spongebob456 talk 16:12, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
If it's ok, I'll sit until the edit icon bug is resolved, then want to see if I'm still having trouble editing from my iPad. At that point we can mark the wiki as ready. One thing I'm noticing today on my iPad is how slow my typing shows up on screen, typing this sentence, it takes a couple seconds for the screen to catch up. I don't recall that happening in the old version, and it doesn't happen on my laptops. Maybe it's related to being unable to edit sections? Different JavaScript/css happening on mobile devices? Jeff (talk) 16:44, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
I'm happy to report the edit source link is back on talk pages, yay! I'll mark the wiki as ready to go. Unfortunately I'm still usually unable to edit my talk page from my ipad. I've tried different browsers and different workflows to get to the talk page (from email notifications, directly going to the page from a new browser tab, etc) and most of the time it doesn't work. But then I come back to my ipad later and try and it will work. I've found no rhyme or reason to it. It always works from my Mac so it seems something about mobile or the ipad but not sure. Jeff (talk) 21:41, 19 June 2021 (UTC)
Hey! Great that issue was fixed and we're ready to go. The slow typing issue is interesting, I've not heard that before on FD. I know often slow typing can arise if the device has a lot going on in the background. Does slow typing happen anywhere else?
The email issue is annoying, I do that too. I've not experienced the issue on desktop but I will look into what happens on mobile devices. --Spongebob456 talk 13:23, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
Note that it isn't related to the email notifications, any editing of my talk page (by using the topic edit source link) rarely works. Only by using the edit page link at the top will work. Very strange. Jeff (talk) 22:28, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Ok so this is on both skins and on an iPad. Does this happen on other devices? --Spongebob456 talk 12:44, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Never on my desktop or laptop. I don't think it even happens on my iPhone so doesn't seem to be an iOS issue. It must be something strange about my personal situation/device. Maybe I just need to clear caches or cookies, I don't think you should worry about it unless you hear of other similar situations. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 12:54, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Ok no worries! Yeah, try clearing cache/cookies - that may help. Did you watch Luca by the way? What do you think? --Spongebob456 talk 12:49, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
yes, have watched Luca twice, really like it. It's a nice, adorable film, very beautiful and has some nice music! Jeff (talk) 02:23, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

To Dvcnut,

I managed to get most of the credits for Luca, but it’s not complete and I’m getting tired out. Can you please take my place?

Hi Cameron. Thanks for all your effort with the site and especially the credits. Looking over the page's history it looks like quite a few people have been working on them so I'm sure they'll get finished over time. Thanks again. Jeff (talk) 21:28, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Not sure why I would remove this post, it seems fine? We don't do a lot of oversight of the forums. Many of the usual wiki policies such as only official information aren't enforced. Only policies such as threatening behavior, swearing, etc, would require admin intervention. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 22:28, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
It's not the post itself that needs to be deleted, it's this particular reply to the post. Look at the last word in the reply and you will see that it contains a certain word for...well, something I would rather not discuss. Buzzfan120 (talk) 02:27, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
I don't think that warrants removal, thanks. Jeff (talk) 03:32, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Please block Hardingwilliamcody and Tyree Swing. The former keeps spamming the forum with questions about what certain acronyms stand for; the latter made a forum post about a fake Pixar film. Buzzfan120 (talk) 03:55, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

I didn't see the posts you're mentioning, and as I stated above, I don't think these types of actions require being blocked. Jeff (talk) 22:28, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

I did block Hardingwilliamcody. I'm not going to do anything about the other one, it's a single post and we're not as picky about "fanon", movie ideas, etc. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 03:34, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Question

Hey Dvcunt can you please enable message wall on Pixar Wiki? If Dvcnut does not know how, you can click this link. Thank you. qzydnz

We've chosen to continue using talk pages and not the message wall on this wiki. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 00:49, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Hey Dvcunt thank you for your reply to my message but why? qzydnz.

We just never saw much benefit to it, and like how talk pages work. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 03:27, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Concept Art

To Dvcnut,

I found new concept art for Turning Red, and I got a message from Pixar Post saying that William Cone was confirmed as the maker of said concept art. However, it's unknown if he's the Production Designer or if he's a Sets Designer, Lighting Designer or Development Artist.

Here's the proof: https://www.instagram.com/p/CQbPj6mpUmd/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Thanks for reading this message!

From, Cameron

Yea, it's pretty cool artwork, I'm excited to see more about this film. We'll just have to wait and see what Cone's role turns out to be on the film. Thanks! Jeff (talk) 02:39, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Question

To Dvcnut,

I noticed for Toy Story 2, Brave and Monsters Inc. that they credited the Sound Designer twice. Is that going to be a problem if I edit the credits for said 3 movies like that or is it OK?

From Cameron

P.S. I’m still trying to make the credits look the same as we see them.

Yes, I see that for Toy Story 2, Gary Rydstrom is listed at least 3 times. The credits on this wiki should match the content of the official press kit, so yes please feel free to edit the credits pages for these films and add the missing information. Thank you. Jeff (talk) 20:54, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Follow Up

To Dvcnut,

I noticed that "Outtakes & Company Play" was only said in Monsters, Inc’s UK Credits, so I put "(UK Credits Only)" next to "Outtakes & Company Play". Is that OK?

From Cameron

P.S. I accidentally deleted the "Orchestra" section of the Cars Credits, and I want to restore it, but I noticed that someone wasn’t following how the credits should go, and that will take me all day to complete. So can you help with that, if possible?

My Edit

Hello dvcnut, about my edit, I would like to ask certain stuff.

Is it not allowed to post a Incredibles reference from a Disney movie people barely know? since well, Zokkomon is actually a real movie, there is even a Wikipedia page of it. And thus it confirms and it says that it was produced by Walt Disney Pictures but for the Indian market and due to that, it never released somewhere outside India. I do know about the Incredibles reference since as I told in the summary, I also downloaded the movie because I do research on certain foreign Disney movies. And thus, the scene of the protagonist reading an Incredibles comic is real. I would send a screenshot of it, but my PC is turned off right now and thus I cant send it.

If it's not allowed, that's okay, and I will respect the choice.

Hello. I apologize for reverting your edit so quickly. Afterwards, I did some more research and confirmed that this movie was produced by a Disney subsidiary, and have added back your original edit. Thanks. Jeff (talk) 03:24, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

Alright, no problem, and here is now a screenshot of the reference by the way. Thanks for your time. Samuel/Samuster

Minor Character Page

Hi there, I apologise for no further ideas on the merge, life got a bit hectic my end, hope things are well with you.

I have since noticed however Dillon is either ignoring or flat out refusing to give input on the merge of minor characters into one page despite being encouraged to do so. Because of this, I'm thinking either we move ahead with it or put it to a user vote, with either option I have come up with a new idea; instead of pages for the minor characters in single scenes we should have pages for the minor characters in each movie that way we put quality over quantity and use the criteria of "if a character has an appearance of 1 minute or less then they are classed as minor and will feature on the page for their movie" or something to that effect, each page being titled for example "Minor Characters of Monsters Inc."
Hope this sounds good to you, I'm open to whatever you suggest User:PlanetaryWarsHead June 30 2021, 23:35pm GMT
Yes, I like the idea of putting all of the minor characters of a film into a single page. If you find new minor characters being created, feel free to mark them for deletion; I'm out of town this weekend so may not be able to get to them right away. Thanks much! Jeff (talk) 02:41, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

The End of Pixar?

You know how Disney has been giving post-Onward Pixar movies straight-to-Disney+ releases in the US, this kinda gives me concern that Disney will soon terminate Pixar & move it to Disney+; the same way they terminated Blue Sky & moved it to 20th Century Animation. Is there currently any proof of Pixar having this fate?Sstanford2 (talk) 18:16, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

That's a good question, but I've seen no proof or even speculation that Pixar will be shut down. Actually the opposite, they announced that Turning Red will be released to theaters, and I think already announced that Lightyear will be released theatrically. Now with Disney+, all the studio divisions of Disney need to come up with content for the service, but Pixar is much too strong of a brand to keep it only for Disney+. Turning Red Trivia

Hi, Dvcnut:

I made the earlier edits on Turning Red Trivia. Didn't even notice the duplicate references tag - good catch! I should have clarified that it was (or, as an upcoming release, will be) the first theatrical release since Onward. I had the Verge article referenced, but if it's still too early to deem official per the wiki's standards, we can add it to the trivia page once more details about the film are revealed.

I apologize for any misunderstanding. Thanks again!

-Mjhm682 (talk) 17:31, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

No worries, yea, was a bit confused, I think you meant the first theatrical release in March since Onward? If so, please go ahead and add that, Pixar has said the release date is March so that's official. Thanks for checking and clarifying! Jeff (talk) 18:03, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
Awesome, I'll go back and add it! Now that we mention it, Turning Red is both the first March release and first theatrical release since Onward, since Soul and Luca were Disney+ exclusives. Mjhm682 (talk) 19:05, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Need help with Luca credits, please!

To Dvcnut,

I’m sick this week and I cannot edit the credits page for Luca. Can you please take my place?

From Cameron

P.S. I would use Disney+ as the source instead of YouTube because those credit videos are either too fast or too blurry.
